We had dinner at the Kona Cafe in 2001 and the beef teriyaki was wonderful! It was served with white rice and spinach (they gave me green beans instead), but now I see that they've changed this dish somewhat, and now serve it with potatoes. Have any of you had both versions, and can give me a comparison?? Is the beef teriyaki still excellent?? DH and I both had it last time, and we're looking forward to dining at the Kona Cafe again, but I can't help but wonder if it won't be the same, or even similar to last time.

What dishes at the Kona do you all recommend?? All comments appreciated! :)

I too fell in love with that dish back in 2001 and am disappointed with the changes. Its still very good, but I liked it better before.
You can substitute the rice for potatoes but I found something a little different about the rice. Also instead of the spinach(which I really liked) you get mixed vegetables. Again, they are good, but not as good as I thought the spinach was. The biggest disappointment was the fried onions on top are now gone. The steak itself is still very good, but for me it was the whole meal that made it awesome. ;)

We had lunch there on our recent trip and I tried the Pan Asian Pasta and found that was very good. Its pasta(more like chinese noodles, like lo mein, not your typical "pasta"), vegetables, and chicken with a stir fry type sauce.

We had dinner at the Kona for the first time last year and loved the food. We have a PS for our upcoming trip since we were so impressed with the food last time.

Some things have changed because the chef changed....at least that's what our server told us last trip (June). There was a chicken dish there that I really liked but now it is gone and replaced with another one. It is not the same but still good. DH & I still go there for dinner every trip while we leave the kids at the Neverland Club. I still think it's one of the most over-looked restaurants at Disney...

I never had the old beef teriyaki, however I have had the new one and thought it was excellent. Personaly I would prefer potatoes and vegetables over the old was any day, but I'm not a big fan of rice. I say you should try it, I thought it was very good.

go for the asian noodle bowl during lunch! It's so light and refreshing yet you still get pretty full after lunch!::yes::

The lunch menu doesn't list the side items. Does anyone know what comes with the Big Kahuna burger or any of the other lunch selections?

Thanks.

I think the burger came with fries and yes after watching oogieboogie eat the asian noodle bowl I can agree that she was full of it.
