For Christmas I really, really wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer. DH bought me a Sunbeam stand mixer instead. Granted it's considerably cheaper ($50 vs. $200), but I really wanted dough hooks and it doesn't come with any. Should I exchange it and fork over the extra money, or just consider myself lucky that DH partially listened to what I wanted. :lmao: Will I always wish I had the KitchenAid instead?

Depends on the size of your family and how much you will use it really. I rarely use mine but LOVE it. My friend makes mashed potatoes in her at least weekly. I have used it for bread but, find my bread maker works just as well on the dough setting. I do love it for big batches of cookies and of course cakes and icings.

I've had my Kitchen Aid for 17 years, and my mom has had hers for over 35.....and neither of them have ever had any problems. I wouldn't buy another brand. I can mix most cookies recipes in double batches, and cakes are a breeze.

I guess the question is: How much baking do you do? I do anywhere from 12 to 15 different kinds of cookies every Christmas, make Easter bread, and cakes/frostings for 4 kids' birthdays. For me, it was well worth the extra money.

I don't do much with my Kitchen Aid mixer, but I LOVE it!
Yes, go get it. Sorry-Sunbeam just does not cut it-had one, hated it.

Okay, I'm going to take it back and get the KitchenAid. Are there any deals out there post Xmas?

Worth EVERY Penny for a KA mixer!! It will last FOREVER too!

We are a family of 5 and I would say I do more than average baking; not a lot of cakes and cookies, but a lot of bars. I make my own pizza dough and pretzels and I was really looking forward to the dough hooks!

If your DH doesn't mind, I would get it. You're definitely doing to use it. I think you'll really like it, and as PP said, the Sunbeam just won't measure up.

I had wanted a Kitchen aid for years so when a decent sale came up on Amazon, I purchased it. I LOVE it!! I don't use it on a regular basis but not infrequently either. During the holidays it is very helpful for doing my baking. I might make brownies or cookies once a week or every other week and I usually my Kitchen Aid for that. I do not regret that purchase at all!

If it were me, I would definitely return the sunbeam and spend the extra $$ on a Kitchenaid. I don't use mine very often, but I still love it. It will last forever.
My friend bought a sunbeam because she didn't want to spend the $$ for the kitchenaid. She ended up buying a kitchenaid w/in a month.
Under the circumstances you stated, I think it would be a very worthwhile investment for you. Good luck w/ your decision. :goodvibes

I got mine about 7 years ago and I love it. I purchased the meat grinder attachemnt and I use that to grind my own pork, chicken and beef. It's such a cheaper and healthier way to go and I use my Kitchen Aid for lots of other things as well, mainly baking. I would not have been pleased with a Sunbeam and once you use a Kitchen Aid you will know why it's worth the $$.

I LOVE my kitchenaid mixer. I got lucky a couple years ago on amazon and got one for like $125 with 3 attachments. I love it and it was well worth the $$ spent.

Kitchenaid is worth every single penny... you may find some on sale at Kohls or maybe at Amazon.... I would certainly get it no matter what the difference is... I love my 6 quart. I have a Kitchenaid Pro - worth every penny!

BEST mixer ever! Get it! wait for a kohls 30% off if u want to save some dough!

Absolutely worth it!! I got one for Christmas a few years ago and don't use it weekly, but wouldn't trade it for anything--especially a Sunbeam! ;) It is so convenient and works great!!
