Is the GCH Lobby really that bad?

We've booked a stay at the GCH in June, and invited friends along. But I'm seeing a few reviews talking about the lobby being used for naps etc (apparently encouraged by influencers) making it feel a bit overrun. We have stayed at the GCH before and are used to it being busy, so wondered if others felt this was becoming a real issue or not.🙂

Not sure where someone posted that people are sleeping in the GCH lobby, but someone asked about it here as well. Personally, I've never seen people sleeping in the lobby. Granted the chairs near the fireplace are pretty comfortable so maybe people nod off here and there. It is nothing like what I witnessed at WDW.

The entrance from GCH to DCA, as well as the restaurants, are under construction. That cuts down on the number people in the lobby.

Someone else commented that the lobby was dark. I went last week and thought the same thing. It must be because a lot of the natural lighting is being blocked by construction.

This photo was taken in the early afternoon.

I agree with Pluto and LKing. I've not seen people napping in the lobby. I stayed there Easter weekend and did not see this, nor did I see it in Dec when I was there for a stay with my sister. It *can* be crowded, for sure.

FWIW, there are other small areas with tables and chairs scattered throughout the hotel on the upper floors. That's a good choice for meeting up with friends and family as most people don't even know they are there. The largest, I think, is on the 3rd floor.

That's interesting to see - thank you for posting. Hoping there will be some improvement over the next month or so before we get there. We are booked to eat at the Craftsman Grill - hoping that is ok too!

Thanks for this info - very helpful!

Haven't had issues here. I also don't worry about what others are doing, if someone is resting in a chair I've never made a mental note about it gone home and posted online lol- odd.

Lobby can be busy at times but security is also good about keeping an eye on guests. If people are actually sleeping and clearly not staying at hotel they will be politely asked to move along (especially overnight of course.) Similar to any large hotel.
