I don't like spicy food, but I do love to try new, ethnic foods. Is the Tangerine Cafe spicy? Any one particular dish you like the best there?

I do not think it is spicy. My fave is Shawarma Chicken and Lamb Platter - Served with side of hummus, Tabouleh and a Tangierine Couscous salad with fresh Morrocan bread. Make sure and have the baklava!! (sp?) It is a sweet dessert that is made w/ phylo dough (crispy dough w/ many layers) nuts, cinnamon, and honey. Tasty!! The nice thing is that all this food is a cs!:worship:

I feel the same as the PP regarding the Shwarma Chicken and Lamb platter. I can take or leave the Baklava, but that's probably because of my experience with Christo's in Minneapolis :goodvibes

One of the most common thoughts is that Moroccan food is spicy. DH is from Morocco and the only time the food is spicy is when you add hot sauce (Harissa- Moroccan hot sauce)

I love the lamb schwarma platter. The closest thing I can think to compare it to is gyro meat.

Nothing tasted spicy to me--in fact, the hummus is actually a bit blander than I like.

It is not spicy at all, it IS "herb-y." Flavors used to season the foods are somewhat different from our usual herbs. Mint, cinnamon, cardamom are a few I can think of that play a bigger role.

If you like trying different foods, you will love TC. We love everything we've tried, and especially anything with lamb ('cause I just don't make lamb at home).

Do you mean HOT or do you really mean spicy?? Spicy means alot of flavors with spices used...hot means, well, hot....you know, burn your tongue. With that said, I found Tangerine to be spicy but not hot.

It's not hot, if that is what you mean, but it is spicy. But not with hot spices.

I can't tolerate really any heat in my food and I LOVE Moroccan food.

I agree with everyone's comments: the food is "spiced" as in "herbed", if that makes sense. Cilantro, mint, cinnamon, even some citrus (orange & lemon) flavors. It's not at all "hot" in the sense of chili peppers and the like. The flavors are quite delightful. Tangerine is easily our favorite counter service food at WDW.

I'm very partial to the lamb wrap as a lunch item, and the shawarma platters at dinner.

Exactly! Not spicy hot but spicy herb-y

The meatball platter is yummy! We go to the cafe at least twice every trip for them. My husband loves the Schwarma Platter. This is the best counter service in Epcot IMHO.

:thumbsup2

I had the chicken Schwarma platter last trip and I didn't find it spicey at all. The desserts were the best thing. I chose an almond blaklava that was to die for! They also seemed to have very large portions for the lunch that I had.

I agree with PP's -- this type of food tends to be very flavorful, herby, lots of lemon, garlic (and I have had some moroccan/med foods that were with HEAVY garlic), but nothing hot spicey. And WDW tends to play it safe -- not making things very strong anyway.

Though this type of food certainly can linger on the breath :rotfl: WHEW!
