Is the end of September miserably hot?

We swore we would never go back in September due to the heat a few years back..yet we found ourselves there during a heatwave again. It was only in the high 90's but felt much worse.
We were staying at the Hyatt OC which had a shuttle service and it was a lifesaver. Hitting rope drop , leaving by 2pm and returning after 5-6pm was the best strategy for the heat.

Also making excellent use of FP to minimize the waits helped also.

I'd go even further. I'd say most of September is hotter than all of June. June (largely due to June Gloom) is actually quite temperate.
Temperatures in SoCal can be SCORCHING in September.

Totally agree! We were there the first weekend in June and found it to be just perfect, second weekend in September, NOT SO MUCH! UGH! It was unbearable!

Not necessarily. Particularly if there's a heatwave, which is becoming more common in September.

September and August are usually very hot. Sometimes you can get lucky and have a cold front move through for a few days but more often than not, it is hot and miserable.

And this past October was unseasonably warm. It seemed like each MHP ranged from uncomfortably warm (when wearing costumes) to downright hot, even at 10pm.

We were there 9/23 to 9/27 this year and it was very hot-- upper 90s.
it seemed like it was hot even at night too.

What's been awful the last few years hasn't been the heat, but the humidity. It was 79 degrees on 9/15 and 103 degrees on 9/20. On 9/18 there was a low of 63 and a high of 91. You have to be prepared for a 25-30 degree range and temps up to 100 any day from the end of May to the beginning of November.
