Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it?

I've never done it, and I really don't know the answer, but Disney seems so eager for me to do it that I think it must be a better deal for them than it is for me :)
Disney wants you on the dining plan so you are spending all your food money with them. People with cars have the option to go off property to eat, but if on ddp, probably won't. Like I said, it doesn't work for everyone, but if it does, it saves you quite a bit. Partially because of Disneyflation, where they raise prices to the point that the plan is a value.

I think the comments are spot on. It really does depend on you style of dinning. My family loves eating. It's not our goal to be spend thrifts while at Disney. We love the Disney restaurant experience. If we aren't on a dinning plan we would still eat at a table service restaurant one meal a day. And we would never leave Disney property to eat. So for us the DDP does save us money. The items we choose tend be the more pricey menu items and because our taste are so varied, we aren't much into sharing meals. The meal plan is a lot of food. So if being wasteful bothers you, then it's probably not for you. For our next trip we're on the FDDP. We are a family of 4 Disney adults and if we had to pay for our meals it would cost us and extra $220 plus a day. So for us it is a money saver. The FDDP allows us to book a few extra meals, without feeling like we are completely overindulging. We never have TS credits left over, but sometimes we do have CS credits left on our last day. We usually just randomly pick a family and pay for their meal with our left over credits. It's fun and its great to sprinkle a little pixie dust before we leave.pixiedust:

Wow! I love this idea! If we have any credits left next time I would love to do this for someone. Chances are I won't have any credits left because I love to eat...a lot...but if I do I'm going to do this!

We think the DDP is worth it. With the meals you want tho I would suggest the Deluxe plan. You could have three sit down meals a day if you wanted.

The regular plan only give your one table service meal per person a day and one counter service meal per day

Table service includes nonalcoholic drink, entree, dessert
CS includes non alcoholic drink, entree or combo and dessert

Both plans have snack credits per day as well.
