Is the dining plan going to change in 2011

Clearly, the British travel companies haven't just taken it upon themselves to announce a different standard for the 2011 Dining Plan, they have obviously got their information from Disney.

At this point it is not clear that they got the information from Disney, and that information varies even among the various British travel companies (some have the extra snack on basic, some don't.) When dealing in the long term with Disney you eventually find out that nothing is set in stone until you see an official announcement FROM DISNEY. Even then, they sometimes change things after the announcement.

Although if you are British and you're booking now, you probably don't have any choice but to go along with what the British travel company you book with is telling you, but US customers trying to anticipate the 2011 dining plan won't be able to do that with any accuracy until package details are released in August. That said, they should probably be prepared to see the same thing the British are seeing now.

And it doesn't strike you as odd, then, that all companies which are offering the dining package for next year are explicitly listing it as without desserts. It's too much of a coincidence to imagine that they all made the same mistake as each other, they must be receiving the information from a central source.

I take onboard what you say about your long-term experience of dealing with Disney, and nothing can be guaranteed. But clearly, there's something afoot here.

Yes, but being British, you have to prepare for it now. US customers have a little time, and you never do know with Disney. Here on the message board we can't possibly say "Yes in the US all dining plan packages will not include dessert in 2011" because we really do not know that for sure. But we are on notice to be prepared for 2011.

If the central source made the mistake though, it would explain it (and we all know that Disney has made several printing/informational mistakes in the past). Until we hear direct (or are able to view said source documents directly, and then maybe not), it's simply speculation.

What does the 2011 UK brochures show for the Deluxe Dining Plan "meals"? Just an appetizer and entree?

Yes, and 2 snacks and refillable mug (no mug on the QS and no dessert on any plans). No proposed price increase to DxDDP either. ;)

Hhmmpphh ..... looks like if this is true, our decision to upgrade to DxDP this August is a good plan. We got free DDP with a bounceback offer and upgraded when I realized it was the last chance to upgrade our Disney kid before she turns 10 and become an expensive Disney adult. We're doing the whole shebang - CRT, SOA, HDDR, Le Cellier, Akershus, Ohana, Teppan Edo and more.

So far I have been to the Virgin holiday site, and have even gone as far as going through the motions of Booking A 2011 stay on the UK Disney site with dining and there is NO official Disney mention of a new dining plan on either site. Nor is there a brochure that I can see that states it is a 2011 DDP brochure on either site. After making the UK Reservation I looked at the package detail's and it stated the exact same information for the DDP that is in the current DDP. So I will just wait for the official word from Disney for this. And if someone can find a link with new info post it..................

Virgin do online brochures on their site, all the info is in their brochure (page 64&65 i think) :thumbsup2

I'm still not convinced, I will wait for the official DDP from WDW. In the print on the bottom, it includes Free dining dates all the way up to Nov 2011. Rather them speculate I'll wait

I looked at that Virgin brochure, are ya'll sure that the beverage has'nt been removed as well? It just stated about the meals and snacks, no mention of a drink.:laughing: It could be worse than what we thought!

Doesn't mean they have the right information. They have got things wrong in the past. Lets wait and see in august what happens.

This is from complete orlando. It might be that Virgin gets it wrong, but 2 Travel Companies?

In the 2011 sections it shows - (dessert no longer available) for ALL THREE categories!

Very interesting..... I can live without the CS desserts as we hardly ate them anyway, but taking away the TS dessert bums me out! I think this means that the buffet meal locations are going to get a lot more popular when these changes roll out! Boo!

Totally agree. The buffets will be the only way to go with this crap that Disney is rolling out now!!!
