Hello all... I'm torn between a Downtown Disney resort view at the GCH or concierge level at either PP or DLH. Any thoughts? They are just two of us travelling.... are the food options, view, and upgrade worth the money?

Worth is hard to put a value on. If you are looking to save money, conc. is probably not going to be "worth" it for two people. However, if you want to be pampered a bit more then normal, then yes it's worth it.

We stayed at PP, conc. level in Oct. There was 6 of us. It was great to be able to eat a quick breakfast, and take drinks to the park. Most of us only made it to the evening snack and drinks once. My FIL went back to the park almost every evening for it. The kids loved turn down service and the chocolates on the pillow.

We had a choice for our stay, either PP conc level or a very standard room at GC. What we really wanted was a regular room at the DLH, but it wasnt available for our dates. If I had it to do over again, I would have went to GC non conc. The walk back and forth to PP was long, and the breakfast and drinks werent enough to balance it out. However, the rooms at PP are bigger and the view of the park was really great! I guess what I'm saying is, it's all about whats important to you, we all put values on different things.

If you have the money, I'd do it just for the novelty of it. You are not guaranteed the Sierra Tower except if you pre-pay with a vacation package but that isn't guaranteed either--just more likely. I tried to pin down the reservationist about this one one time and she basically admitted the best chance of getting the DTD view at the Sierra Tower is a standard room with concierge. The concierge is an option with the room which is designated as the upper floors of all of the towers. We always get concierge just because it's cool. My husband's favorite part of it is free beer. I don't like beer so I get the champagne which is pretty good. Beer, wine and champagne are served at the "wine and cheese hour" with milk and cookies served also. The food is kind of limited at the DLH. It's more of an appetizer bar as opposed to a buffet. However, you can fill up on it. You can also take the food back to the room with you. We have been to the lounge several times trying to watch the fireworks from the lounge because they pipe in the music from the park but the fireworks keep getting cancelled. We also like riding in the glass elevator. They might be silly reasons to pay an extra $$$ for the room, but we like it and it just adds little special touches like turn down service and someone available to make arrangments for you for last minute meals, etc. I feel that it turns a stay at the DLH from just another hotel to one that I somehow expect from staying there. Some people don't think it's worth it, especially if there are only the two of you, but if you are getting a vacation package from AAA or Disney Visa, I would go for it.

Oh, and I stayed at the GCH at Halloween in a standard room over the Napa Rose (resort view) and for the almost $500 I paid for the room for that night I would have preferred DLH with concierge. However, I have two kids. If it were just my husband and I, perhaps the GCH would seem more appealing. It is closer to the parks, Napa Rose, Whitewater Snacks and has the new Mandala Spa. However, I like and know the staff better at the DLH. It's just my opinion.
