Just wondering if anyone has heard if the Castle is going to be redecorated for the 35th Anniversary of WDW in 2006??? :wizard:
If the Happiest Celebration on Earth ends in the fall, The gold can be taken down and the new accessories can be put up.

Please post if you have heard any info from CM's on this.
I hope the Castle gets another make-over! Its so much fun to see.
(Perhaps another Cake version ???? ha! ha!) :rotfl2:

I asked the same thing the other day and no one seemed to know the answer. I did hear that they didn't do much for previous "birthdays" though.

Good Lord! Please let the powers that be remember the horror that was the 25th Birthday Cake Castle!!! :scared:

*not religious - I just pray when I'm desperate

I asked a cm if the gold was coming down , but he didn't know if or what would replace the gold. I did mention how we would all hate to see the "bday cake" thing happen again!!!

Anyone have any pics of the infamous cake castle? That was before I was Disney obsessed and would love to see it!

LOL!!!

I was watching some old home video from Dis trip for the 25th and saw the cake ! I was like, "it seems much more ugly now then when I was actually there then!!"

I too would love to see a birthday cake picture. I just can't picture it so I need to see it.

*****ETA****** OK I just saw some pictures(I did a google search for Disney World castle cake) and they were very INTERESTING. I would like to have seen that in person. I don't think it was bad really, just very different.

I did not mind the castle cake. It was very colorful. My girls were very young on that trip and they loved it.

We won't be visiting until next October and are hoping to see the castle decked out in "gold" in person! :teeth:

We visited WDW during the 10th, 20th 25th and 30th anniversaries and the Birthday Cake for the 25th was the only other special changes to the castle that I remember. It wasn't that bad - it was supposed to look like a cake, after all! :goodvibes

Hey, I gotta say I also loved the "Cake Castle", it was a great original concept that I knew was not going to stay forever, so I enjoyed it while I could and treasure the memories of having been there to see it in person. I am also glad I got to see the "gold" castle and am looking forward to other new incarnations of the castle in the future.

I sure hope not. I'm tired of seeing the castle decorated. Just leave it alone.

It's like Fenway Park. It's a landmark. A beautiful one. Clean it up. Paint it if need be. Just stop putting things all over it.

It's already 35 years????!!!!! I can't believe it! I was there for 25 and it seemed like yesterday! I'm stunned, I can't believe 10 years has come and gone by so quickly, that's so scary!

Personally, I was not a big fan of the "Cake castle". I thought it looked like a bottle of Pepto Bismol that had eaten too many of those mushrooms from Alice in Wonderland and grew really big! It was like:Beware, it's The Attack of the Pepto Bismol Cake Castle!

I don't think that they will decorate it as a cake again. After Disney relized how unpopular it was. After all, more than 200 weddings were cancled becasue of it. And it was alos taken down earlier than it was scheduled to. So unless Disney is very stupid, I doubt the cake will come back. I was told that there are no official plans for the 35th aniversary yet though.

My mom's first trip was during the 25th. When we went back after the Castle had returned to normal she asked what it was because she had never seen it the way it usually looks.

It was a real shocker to see that ugly, pink, cake-like structure where the castle usually resides. I had been to WDW once before in 1989. My wife and I went on our honeymoon at WDW in 1997. We had been going to Disneyland for many years, and decided that WDW, and a cruise would be a nice way to start our marriage.
This was the first time my wife had been to WDW. I was almost embarassed that I took her to this place with that monstrosity sitting there.

Like others have stated in the past, it's okay to have decorations, and temporary changes to the parks for people that see it often. For those people that are visiting for the first time, or are going for a special event (wedding, honeymoon, ect..) it's nice to have the park that you see in the travel magazines.
Wouldn't it be great if you went to the MK after your wedding to go take pictures and have toilet paper draped all over the castle. It's happened

The Pepto Cake!

It was awful! DH & I got married in WDW during the middle of the 25th anniversary. So many of our honeymoon pictures have that monstrosity in the background.

I dont know if they will do much for the 35th. I think the 30th went by without even a mention. But Disney now loves their parties.

Is the 50th ending in the fall or at the end of 06?

I loved how the cake was for the 25th.It was one of my favorite ways the castle looked. So many people dont like change in stuff they are used too.Change is good.
