me and my partner went to a walt disney resort for the first time (we stayed in kissimee before) and stayed at pop century. we really liked it as it offered everything we missed when we stayed off site but was wondering whether going to a moderate is worth the extra money?

Well you get the "extra" themeing pools are more eleborate, some type of sit down restaurant on premises, rooms are slightly bigger and I believe larger beds, maybe?!?!?! I enjoy the all the resorts, my husband however is against staying at the values simply because he works in center city and has the hustle bustle atmosphere all the time, he loves to site out side on the patios and relax! and The moderates are more private you sont have everyone walking by your room to get to theirs! Wherever you decided to sta, have fun and enjoy after all you will be in Disney!

We really like POR. The theming fits our tastes. It definitely has a more relaxed feel than the value. The values still have great theming and we liked our stay at ASMusic. We have never been back to a value after our first trip, though. We visited all the moderate resorts on another trip and nothing appealed to us as much as the Port Orleans resorts.

We have stayed at the Caribbean Beach 4 times and loved it.

However, on our last trip, we stayed
1 night at POP Century
12 nights at the Contemporary and
4 nights at the Caribbean Beach
and we realized that if you are not going to go all out and stay Deluxe, that the difference in Value to Moderate was so slight that it wasnt worth the extra money. Now granted we did only stay 1 night in the Value so we might have changed our minds if we stayed a week, I dont know for sure. Next time though, we will seriously consider Pop Century if we dont stay Deluxe.

I am not saying that I dont Love the CB, but for the money we will either go for broke and stay Deluxe or save money and go for one of the Values.

The rooms at CBR are larger than any of the other moderates (Value = 260 Sq ft, Moderates, 314 Sq ft, CBR 340 sq ft).

All the moderates have refrigerators in the rooms; extra cost at the values.

CBR has "neighborhood" pools as well as a large themed pool.

LAndscaping at any of the moderates is much better than the values.

And generally you do not have young teens running around noisily outside at all hours of the night.

I've had 14 stays at Moderates and two at value; I will never do value again.

DH and I stayed value our first 3 trips and we will never stay value again. While the rooms and service were certainly Disney quality, we were tired of the congestion (too many people and too close together) the long waits for transportation and unruly children and teenagers.
Our pick for moderate has been POR-French Quarter for several reasons.
1. The resort isn't so spread out that you have to walk a mile or wait forever for transportation because you're at a location other than the main pick up.
2. The lounge is wonderful and the entertainment is a good deal of fun. the pool bar is also a good time!pirate:
3. The rooms are awesome (free fridge).
4. The boat launch to DTD is very accessible.
We looked at the Caribbean and did not like the lay out of the grounds or the fact that we were on a bus for what seemed like forever to get anywhere. You also have to take a bus to get around the grounds if you don't want to walk. (this is also true at POR-Riverside) however, there is a boat that goes between the FR and RS.
The moderates are much more quiet and people tend to be better behaved for some reason. If you don't mind the congestion, the values are fine, but if you'd like some peace and quiet, I'd highly recommend the moderates!
