Most of the posts I have seen are for families using the car service - I was wondering if the cost is worth it for two people - and if so, what is the best service cost wise and what exactly is the cost? thanks!

They say that if your group consists of under 4 people, the car service will end up being more expensive. I don't know the exact price for 2, but I've read a lot about the Mears buses being less expensive.

I would guess that the drawback to riding the shuttle buses is that they make different stops on the way to the resorts, so it takes longer to get there.

My family uses the car service, but there are 4 of us, and we like getting to the parks as soon as possible. Also, the option of stopping at the grocery store is nice to have, though we haven't done it yet.

I think your best bet is to look at sites like mousesavers for more in-depth info :)

It's not the cost, its the value you get!

Round-trip car service is usually around $100 or so (give or take a few $$ depending on what company you use). So for 2 people that's about $50 per person, or roughly twice what you spend on Mears.

What you get for that extra money, though, to me more than makes up for the extra expense! When you get off the plane, all you do is go claim your bags and meet the driver. He'll help you with your bags to your waiting car and wisk you straight to WDW. You don't need to wait for other passengers to fill up a bus, you don't make any stops at any other terminals or hotels on the way.

If you want, you can also request a FREE stop at a grocery store on the way to your hotel to stock up on snacks and drinks. This will also save you money, as you can buy a case of water for what one or two single bottles will run you at WDW. Same with soda, beer, chips, cookies, etc.

So between the convienance and money you save on snacks (if you choose to make a stop), I say the extra cost of a car service is a better value than cheap-o Mears!

I absolutely agree with taking the car service. My fiance and I went down last month and the convenience of having a car waiting for us and not having to find a taxi, plus the grocery stop, was more than worth the $95 we paid round trip (we took Quicksilver - recommended!). Plus, it set the tone for a great vacation!

I think it depends....what is your primary goal: "Have a nice relaxing, stress free vacation" or "I'm on a budget and I need to watch the expenses, so I can have a great time($50 is a great time at Pleasure Island etc.)"
Not in all cases, but that is how I see it.

So I would say YES, but 10 years ago I might have done Mears for the adventure, and the savings. So up to you! But After that LONG flight from Albany, I would do the Car Service. See www.mousesavers.com for a coupon for a couple dollars off Happy or use FL Tours since they sponsor the DIS Boards. Rate depends on where you are staying.

PS: I used to live in Waterford...I now live near Albany.

We're DVC members....we always rent an alamo car average 32$ w/ codes from mary's sight for 24 hour period then we drop it at the dolphin. the day b4 vacation ends we pick up car at dolphin for same price and drop off at airport. I like this better than car service, it gives me the option to take my time at grocery store and usually one of the nites we will go over to Margaritaville. There are 3 of us in my family.
