Is the BWV as nice as it was in 1999?

My family(4 people-boys aged 14+19) hasn't been to WDW since July 1999, and a BWV 1BR villa was just perfect for us. The room was beautiful, and we had no complaints.

Now, in July 2003, we are staying at a 2BR villa (plan to request 5th floor) and for those who have stayed there a long time, is it still as nice as it was 4 years ago?

Meaning, have they renovated the rooms regularly, updated appliances, replaced old items, and generally kept the rooms fresh?

Note-We tried for the BCV, but 2BR's weren't available.

I am not a DVC member, but I decided to ask this question here as the people here would know best.

I've been a member since 1999 and have stayed at BWV 5 times since we joined (my last trip being over NYE 2002/2003) and have found the resort to be generally very well kept up. They are in the middle of a massive exterior repainting project so some of the exterior is in dire need fo a paint job while the rest of it looks brand new, but that's to be expected. Our room (we had a 1br) was in beautiful condition with no complaints. You do hear about the occasional complaint about a room at all of the resorts but we have never had anything but a very well maintained room at BWV.

My only complaint is about how well the hallway carpet isn't holding up. I wish they'd bring back the old boardwalk carpet... that seemed to hold up for much longer than this stuff does (and the theming was perfect, too!)

We were there in 2000, 01, 02 and just last week. We usually stay in a one bedroom, as we did last week. I found it to be very clean, very fresh. None of the furniture was in need of repainting or repair of any kind, all in good shape. The walls were all clean, didn't need a paint job or anything, and everything we needed was where it should be! Enjoy

Since you were there in 1999, they have repainted and recarpeted the rooms and hallways; done repairs and repainting of the lobby, the front entrance area and area behind lobby overlooking the courtyard; repaired and recoated the boardwalk. They are in the midst of a large project to repair and repaint the entire outside. By July much of that will be finished except probably a large number of standard view rooms. They have replaced some internal room items but for the most part those are still the same.

One of the places where I saw BWV showing it's age was the woodwork in the elevators, especially along the floor. Probably just me.
