Is the bus system difficult to figure out?

We have never stayed on site before and we are not renting a car. So we will be relying on the bus system. We are staying at POP. I've heard that sometime after the parks close the buses stop, which shouldn't be a problem. We have early dinner reservations all week :woohoo:

So I'm thinking at POP there will be buses to go to each park & DTD and the like, and when we are going to Boma from AK, I'll take that bus, and then to get home, go back to AK to grab a bus to POP. Will this be a problem as AK closes so much earlier than other parks?

Thanks

The biggest key to the Disney bus system is doing one thing that many people do not do.

READ THE SIGN.

It sounds simple, but so many people do not. Each bus will have a bright orange sign that states exactly where it goes. If it doesn't say it, it doesn't go there.

Each resort will have transportation to each theme park, water park, and Downtown Disney.

Each theme park will act like a "Hub" and have transportation to all resorts, as well as the other theme parks.

DTD only services resorts.

If you ever have any questions, trust only those wearing purple pants (aka the bus drivers themselves).

Once you know all that, you will be good to go.

If you finish with dinner at Boma after AK has closed for the evening, you can get a bus to either Epcot or Downtown Disney instead, and from there get a bus back to Pop.

Which would be the best way from Port Orleans resort? Boat to DTD, then bus to FW? Or bus to MK, boat to FW? Fastest and most fun??? thanks!

Fastest?? Bus from PO to MK, boat to FW. Most fun? Boat to DTD, bus to FW. The boat ride is nice and relaxing, and kids love it. But, the buses from DTD can be slow...I think they are the slowest on property. So, if time is of the essence, take the bus to MK and then the boat over to FW.

To the OP....if I can figure out the bus system at WDW, anyone can! I tend to be clueless when it comes to 'mass transit', but have never had a problem getting around WDW. As said before, ask a bus driver, they can give you the right info. Do not, again, do not, trust implicitly what they tell you at the front desk or in the parks if it pertains to the bus system. I have overheard some pretty amazing info being given....completely wrong, but amazing!!! I have followed someone in order to tell them the 'right' way to get someplace. I hate to see people having to ride around and waste time because they were told something in error...ask a bus driver!!

I only recommend that people eat at a resort nearest the theme park they will be visiting that day/and time of day. Way too much trouble trying to eat at a resort on the other side of WDW. Always plan your meals around your theme park visist. It makes things so much easier.
Also keep in mind that you can get a taxi from any WDW resort back to your resort. Taxis are normally waiting for fares, but if one is not available the Cast Member on duty outside will call and get one for you right away.

Another point, which it seems like you may know already, is that buses do not travel from resort to resort, only to parks and DTD.

If we wanted to go from AK to DTD could we get on the AKL bus then change to the DTD bus from there. Would this be the best way? We are staying at POP. I want the quickest way.

That would work just fine.

It would also work to take a bus from AK to one of the Epcot area resorts like CSR, Pop or CBR, since they are directly on the way from AK to DTD. I'd say get on whichever of those four resort busses shows up first.

Its better to take the bus from AK to AKL (then transfer to DTD Bus) as this bus route does not have to stop at Blizzard Beach, All other routes leaving AK (except park to park routes) stop at Blizzard Beach. :surfweb:

:lmao: Thanks for the laugh! :lmao:
This bus says, "TRAINING," Let's ask if it goes to Epcot!

The bus that says, "MICKEY MOUSE," MUST be going to MK.

"VIP Castmember," means it's just for YOU and will take you anyplace you're going!

The ones that don't say anything are unmarked, just like some police cars.

Once again, just ask the driver, they LOVE to answer your questions, but they can't go over 55 because the speed limit is 50!
