Is the 5th Avenue Disney Store Still Open?

Hi, everyone, I was hoping some of you could help me out. My girlfriend and I are going to be celebrating our 1 year anniversary later this month and we plan on going into the city for the day. A few months ago I read on here that there were going to be rennovations at the 5th Avenue store. Is the store closed for those rennovations? Have the rennovations already been made? Thanks for your help.

What a bummer...

I just called and they are going to be closing next week, May 12, until the first week of October. Our anniversary is May25 and we were going to go to the city Memorial Day weekend. We'll still go to the city, but it won't be the same without a stop at the Disney Store.

Don't be surprised if you don't find the store what it used to be. I've heard the 5th Avenue Flagship store has sadly gone downhill since Disney started ignoring TDS chains.

Actually, Kyle, some good news about that.

In March I went into the city to see a Broadway show, and naturally forced my dad into the Disney Store for a little shopping. Talked to a bunch of Cast Members and I was quite excited by what I learned.

Yes, they are closing the store for the summer. The reason why they're closing is because the 5th Ave. store is now going to be operated by the Disney parks division, or something to that effect. The whole thing is getting re-modeled. I could be wrong, but I remember one CM telling me that if the entire chain were to be sold off or closed that now this store would remain intact and in operation.

Every CM that I talked to was very excited about this, claiming that the store would be MUCH improved when it reopens.

Well thats good news. I know the whole store was designed by imagineers with a very cool theme to it. I had read on Jim Hill's Website that things at the store had been taking a turn for the worse. Glad to see that someone is getting their act together.

It's supposed to become a "World Of Disney" store, like the one in Downtown Disney
