Is the 45 day final payment a firm date?

Hi- I saw that someone posted on another thread that they had gotten an extension on the 45 day final payment. The reason I ask is because my DH's bonus check was supposed to come in a few days before our final payment. Due to an accounting/payroll error, it will be on the following check. Normally not a big deal but I budgeted it to make the final payment on our trip. If I call Disney, can they extend it for me? If not my other option is to drop my dining plan now and then add it back when the bonus check comes it.
TIA

In my experience, the hard cancel date is 30 days. The first time I needed a short extension (a couple of years ago), the CM told me it was no problem. They noted the date I would make the final payment and they did tell me the 30 days was a hard date. However, last year I tried to "extend" by a few days and called two different times. Both CM's told me it would "probably" be OK, but they could not make any guarantees. They did note the date I would make the final payment for me though. I ended up downgrading and paying in full then just upgrading back to our original package when I could pay that part off too.

Just be prepared for a CM to tell you that it is due at 45 days and not to be too reassuring about it not being cancelled. But I do still believe the hard cancel date is 30 days.

ETA: I don't know if your reservation would still be a package if you drop DDP (if you have tickets or not?) - just be cautious if you downgrade and it turns your reservation into room only, the deposit becomes one night room rate vs. $200. Just something to keep in mind - it may or may not make a difference based on where you're staying, etc.

Thanks for the info! We have a package with room tickets and dining. So I think I am ok if I downgrade. I have been making payments on it so I only have 3500 left to pay on it. I will be about 1700 short and the dining plan is 1900 so if I cancel that I should be ok. Thanks everyone!

If you are going to downgrade, make sure you do that by the 45 day mark. If you do anything that makes the price go down after that point, Disney charges a $50 change fee.
