Is Test Track too scary for a ride wimp?

Okay, so I am a total ride wimp! I can't even handle Pirates of the Caribbean (because of the drop). My fave rides are Soarin', Star Tours, rides that are fun and fairly exciting but don't give you that feeling of your stomach plummeting or your heart jumping out of your throat. I put Test Track on our itinerary for Monday because I read that it doesn't have any drops, but now I'm worried that the 0-60 mph race around the track will totally freak me out. What do you guys think?

I didn't find TestTrack too bad at all, it is more exhilarating really.

Some of the other rides like Body Wars, Back To The Future (at Universal) make me feel sick, but I was fine on TT.

All of Test Track before the 0-60 race at the end is very tame and not a all like a roller coaster. The race at the end is extremely short, has no dips or drops, but it does move very fast. I thought Soarin (which is my favorite ride in all of WDW) was much higher on the scary scale than test track.

It's not that scary and we love going on it. Previously there were debates as to whether or not you were actually going 60 mph or if it just felt that way because you were closer to the ground. I would definately recommend going on it though.

I found the race at the end to be no different than regular driving on the interstate. Honestly, you don't go any faster on that track than you would in your own car on the road. It just seems faster because of the curves I think. Anyway, the rest to me is just a series of tests such as a few quick brakes, extreme heat and a few other things. To me, the extreme heat was the worst part. It was like being a Chips Ahoy cookie on a conveyor belt going through a huge toaster oven. :teeth:

Picture this, driving along your local interstate freeway, in a convertible car, going 60 mph. About the only part that would be a little out of the ordinary is a wide, steep curve around the outside of the building.
Most people drive faster is their rental car on the way to Disney from the Airport.
Not scary at all, but it still took me months to get my wife on the attraction, now she has no problem with it.

Mike sums it up very well. Nothing scary about this ride.

If you ever feel scared, look down at the screen in your car. It'll tell you how fast you're going. It's a bit difficult to feel scared when the speedometer is telling you you're traveling at 26 mph (although it feels like more since the ride is all about quick braking and sharp turns). It's hard to see the screen outside, but there's a board outside that'll show you your speed again (and you're going a whopping 64 mph at most - the bus probably went faster than that from the airport!)

Not scary. We have one child anxious about rides, but she rode it when she was 8 for the first time. She said it was like driving with her father. Of course to some people, that would be very scary.

The Heat Room is my favorite part of the whole ride!! :rotfl2: My husband's favorite is the very next room - the Cold room, which I absolutely hate. I would much rather feel like a McDonald's french fry, than a Klondike bar!! The ride itself is all fun, no fear. Go for it!

That is too funny! When I was there last Jan. I was in front of an older couple -they looked about your aunt's age and the husband was using a cane. I asked them if they had been on the ride before and the wife said "Oh yes, many times!" when I asked if it was scary they both laughed and said "Oh no! Just enjoy it!" So when we got into the car before it started to leave the man pushed his cane up to the edge and said "Hang on tight!" and they both just laughed and laughed! They were awesome! I thought of the entire ride and when I saw them at the end when we were near the exit, they had huge smiles on their faces!

One thing keeps me from this ride- the heat room. I hate heat to begin with. I would be worried about getting stuck in that room. Then what if it gets stuck does the heat still work? My worst nightmare is being stuck in the hot room.

I've ridden Test Track a bunch, and never been stuck on the actual ride. They have had to shut the ride for a few hours for repairs, but it's no biggie. Since it opened, it's become one of my fave rides at Epcot (my alltime fave being Spaceship Earth)

I love Test Track...I wasn't sure about ds5... the first time he said he liked it but when I asked him if he wanted to ride it again he said NO... until the next day when we went back...he HAD to ride it 3 or 4 times and loved it! I think you'll be ok. You're not going 60ish for long at all...

The fast part is just like riding in a normal car, just without a top. There's only one steep banked turn, but its over and done with in about 3 seconds. It's a great ride, one of my favorite overall. You should definitely ride it!!

Our "ride wimp", Dd9 was apprehensive, but gave it a try. She then asked to ride it over and over! It's not scary at all, especially after the first time when you are all worked up with anxiety over the possibilities of it!

In the words of my 5 year old DS, "It's not scary, it's supposed to be just fun."

I, personally, did not get to ride Test Track at Epcot last fall because I was with our toddler DD (and we didn't do a child swap for that ride), so I can't comment personally. I can tell you my DS (4 1/2 at the time) loved it and he didn't even do the big "Mountain" rides at MK, only Goofy Barnstormer. This was very fun according to my DH and DS.
