Glad I'm not the only one who's never heard it called that and I've worked retail for many years. I HATED working the day after Thanksgiving. We call it "After Thanksgiving sale" around here It sounded kind of morbid to me Do the ads call it that? Ours refer to the "after Thanksgiving" sale...

Oh, yes, you're right, we call it pop in the Midwest, not soda It's a cart, not a basket around here too

Ah yes, I'm from NJ and Black Friday is the BEST shopping day! Sales, sales everywhere. The key is to go EARLY! If the store opens at 6 - be there at 6. By 10 a.m. the stores, the roads, the entire retail world is a zoo. I'm done shopping and home in time for a nice brunch with the rest of the visiting family.

Born, Raised, and still living in Delaware 38 years later and it has always been Black Friday since I was a little girl! Yes, get those retailers out of the "red" and into the "black" by all means! Don't expect to get to much done with the mobs, but enjoy the holiday spirit that prevails and if it doesn't ~share some of your own! BUT. . . save some of your money for Disney!! 17 days and counting!
