Is Tangled Better than Toy Story 3?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes.

While Tangled may not pack the emotional wallop that Pixar's "final chapter" in the Toy Story saga possessed (I still get chills thinking about those toys heading towards that incinerator), Pixar's last flick dragged a tad and felt a little too much like a retread of their previous work.

Tangled, however, somehow manages to pay homage to the Disney films before it, but never feels like it's something we've seen before.

I've got to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the film and actually grew more impressed upon a second viewing (which I had to view for work).

If you're in doubt, give Tangled a shot because I really don't think you'll be disapointed.

My full review can be found at my blog via my signature below (shameless plug, I know).

I know Toy Story 3 was beloved by many, but I can't be alone in this...did anyone like Tangled just a tiny bit better that Toy Story 3?

Checking in a few days later. Maybe some more folks have seen it. Anyone agree with my assessment that Tangled is a slightly better flick than Toy Story 3 or am I alone out there on the limb? (I'm fully prepared to have everyone disagree with me.

I totally agree with you.

When my dd said she wanted to see it I was dreading it. But when I saw it I loved it. It was really funny. Hubby goes to Harry Potter with son I get to see anything that is a cartoon.

Toy Story 3 was alright but like any movies that have a few, lose something.

I have not seen Tangled yet but I can say that Toy Story 3 was my least favorite of the three. Looking forward to taking my girls to see Tangled!

as a guy, Toy Story 3 was the best of them all. I think you have to be a guy to really get Toy Story 3. It brought tears to my eyes the last 20 min of the movie.

I'm not a guy and I loved Toy Story 3. To me it's one of the best movies ever made.

For me it's really a toss-up. My wife and I went to see it on Sunday and I thought it was amazing. It just felt like pure Disney to me. Toy Story 3 had some very touching moments for me, so emotionally I have to give it to TS3, but just general fun, excitement, and generally storytelling has to go to Tangled.

Loved them both but I really, really, really liked Tangled its ways so cute and funny much better then I thought it was going to be!
I feel like Toy Story 3 and Tangled are hard to compare. Toy Story felt rather deep and heart wrenching at times while Tangled was a little more lighthearted and funny. Both were great movies though. :goodvibes

I will still say that Toy Story 3 is the better between the two for me, but I really, really loved Tangled.

Does Tangled have Mr. Potato Head?

I don't think there is anymore to say. The head tater rules!

They are so different it's hard to say. I loved both, however Toy Story 3 was much more moving to me. Maybe it was because I was more emotionally invested with those characters because I have known them for so long??

Tangled was really great, though, and I LOVED Rapunzel as a character. Great personality!

I'm a guy (and the OP) and still found Tangled to be slightly better. Don't get me wrong, TS3 has an incredibly powerful final act. Once they escape from the day care, head to the incinerator, and get delivered to Bonnie, the film shines even brighter than some of the best Pixar moments they've ever created.

However, until it got to that point, I was a tiny bit bored. Not a lot, but a little.

TS3 is still an excellent movie -- a B+, in my opinon. Tangled just worked a little better for me in terms of story flow and (surprisingly) humor. It gets a slightly better A-. I must say that I do think part of the reason I enjoyed it a bit more is because I was expecting nothing. The commercials and previews didn't make it the least bit appealing to me. But, somehow or another, I was won over by the whole thing.

I loved both movies. I still get choked up thinking of the incinerator; during the movie my DH had to tell me to quiet down because I was sobbing loudly.

We saw Tangled last night and loved it too. Yes, I cried at the end too.

I have not seen Tangled but I cried all the way thru TS3, so I cannot imagine Tangled topping that.

A B+ for TS3...surely you jest. How old are you?

I guess that it matters that I relate to TS3. My older dd "grew up" with it.

If Tangled is THAT emotional, I may have to go see it.:thumbsup2

I have to say that Toy Story 3 didn't blow me away at all. I did cry at the end, but I don't use that to gauge my love for a movie. It was not worth the money I paid to see it. IMHO.

BTW I am 47 and all my kids grew up with Toy Story, they all had Buzz toys. But Toy Story 3, you can have.

I do. I went out and bought it. I normally do not purchase dvd's.

Cest la vie.

I loved Tangled. To me, it was the perfect combination of classic disney along with a few modern updates. It was funny, cute, wholesome... I will definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.:thumbsup2 I was also a fan of Toy Story 3 so I can't say I liked one over the other. Both are great films!
