After being at sea for two days on ship that wasn't really "wowing" us we were looking forward to getting ashore at San Juan. I really like the entrance as you glide up the river towards old Fort Morro, took some shots:
The ladies in my life enjoying the view:
and a shot from behind as we moved towards the pier:
Shortly after this shot, I noticed from the front of the ship that the bungee trampolines were up and going! I got my wife's attention and she told me in the super ultra secret sign language that S.E.A.L.'s use to haul hiney back to our room and get socks for the girls so they could take a spin. They really wanted to do this but every time it had been "open" it was closed because of wind, even when we were in Norfolk with little breeze at all.
It was a little after 1:15 and the ship wasn't scheduled to be clear to disembark until 2:30. I decided against the elevators and flew down 6 flights of stairs to our cabin and ran back to deck 10 where we told the kids the plan and got socks on them.
By now it was a touch after 1:30 we get in line to wait our turn. After a few moments a crew member comes over and says we are closing down at 1:45, no time for my kids. I asked him if he was serious. I pointed out that this was the first time in three days that the ride had been open because of weather and now they are only open for 45 minutes? It isn't 1:45, the time isn't up and they are telling me my kids can't get on? Really? His response, we are too busy and can't keep it open any longer. REALLY! There are no "Smilies" I can use or acronyms I can post that would accurately capture the anger and irritation I was feeling at this man and the staff of RCCL in general.
My kids are wondering why they can't ride, I am trying to explain it to them. We head back to our cabin to get our bag ready for our afternoon at San Juan. We pass the Guest Services desk. I am tempted to go off on someone there but there is a line and I don't want to wait. I grab one of the generic "How are we doing?" cards/surveys and fill it out giving as many details as I can about the incident. I stuff it in the box, interested to see what if anything will be done about it.
This is where the EOS crew in particular and the RCCL company in general gets VERY LOW marks from me. I received no response or feedback from them at all. No sorry phone call or card, nothing. I recounted the incident at the end of cruise survey, nothing. I got a post cruise survey via email and documented the incident again, nothing. I even indicated on both that it was okay to contact me to get additional information if they wanted. To date I have heard NOTHING from the cruise line at all.
A simple acknowledgement of hey we messed up sorry would have gone a long way with me. Their silence and refusal to do anything has gone even further.
Enough about that, back to the fun, let's talk about the trip into San Juan!
