Is stroller theft a problem at the parks

Don't forget about the four legged thieves if you keep snacks in your stroller. They can be brutal for a bag of goldfish

I wouldn't leave the diaper bag if its a "fancy" higher end bag. We usually use an old Jansport backpack and keep it in the stroller basket. I keep the high chair cover, a change of clothes, food, water bottles and ponchos in the backpack and the diaper changer (a skip hop pronto) is in the basket and clipped to the bar. It's clipped mostly so it doesn't accidentally fall out and get lost. The backpack we use is a dark color so it sorta blends in with the bottom of the basket.

I have a Tinkerbell diaper bag that I currently keep in my car, my plan was to take it. I might look for a backpack instead. I wouldn't call the bag fancy at all, but you never know...

You'll want to think about how easy it will be removing the kids and all your stuff and folding it up to ride the buses.

That's my concern too! Regardless of what stroller we bring, we still have to unload it. What does everyone else do? Bring a bag that folds small and load it up?

We have a backpack rule. If it doesn't fit in the back pack it doesn't go. Last trip we had a couple changes of clothes, a few water bottles and some snacks. Time before a few less water bottles but a small diaper pad/diaper holder combo. Everything stays in the backpack until we are in the park. Then at the end of the day the stroller empties into the back pack.

Don't leave anything in a stroller when you park it. I found out the hard way in 2010. We left 6 spray bottles on a stroller, confident nothing would happen to them, and when we came out of Imagination they were all gone. Ironic thing was, is that I'm a retired MP and would normally NEVER do something like that. I had just been to Disney so many times that I had become complacent. Secure your items. That trip I had things stolen from me twice! The other time was while doing laundry, but that's irrelevant to this thread. Just secure your gear. Happy Disney'n.

Related question, we plan to take our own stroller.
But here is my question, I hope to keep the diaper bag in the basket so I don't have to carry it on all rides.
Do you think this would be a problem? I won't have any valuables in it, but would hate to lose diapers and wipes mid day. :rotfl:

Last year I brought those large zip lock storage bags with a few diapers wipes a change of clothes snacks etc instead of a diaper bag because anyone that would steal a diaper bag is hoping to find a wallet in my mind so this way they would know its not worth taking because you could see what was inside. Bonus it was less bulky then any diaper bag and way easier to go through security aka bag check

We do the backpack, too.

We will leave a blanket in the stroller while on rides, not a HUGE deal if it goes missing, but we've never had an issues (even when it's cold out).

I would never go without our stroller and backpacks (no way, especially with the little ones), but I admit that I don't particularly enjoy dealing with it all for busses.

We do the 2 backpack rule. One backpack stays attached to the stroller with snacks, diapers, extra clothes, and one small backpack comes with us on rides, camera, small snacks, hand sanitizer inside.

We never had anything go missing out of our stroller when our son was younger, but, we actually usually rented the ones at the park. We used the cheap umbrella type, but they didn't have much storage, and our son was pretty much past the diaper stage by the time we took him to Disney (he was 3).

What I found disturbing, though, was that things disappear quickly if you leave them. We went through 3 spray bottles one trip when we travelled with my niece and nephew one time. They were not the fancy souvenir Disney type, but the cheap, dollar store ones. One time, I saw a kid who looked to be about 14-15 walking off with a spray bottle that looked like ours from the area where my nephew thought he had left the spray bottle. He had been waiting with my husband outside Rock N Roller coaster, when I took my niece and son onto the ride. But, being the person that I am, I wasn't going to confront a teenager about a spray bottle from a dollar store. So, instead, I dealt with my niece complaining about her brother's carelessness for the remainder of the day.

If you are using a Buggyguard to secure the back wheels of your stroller then you can always loop that through your bag too. Parking your stroller facing outwards helps too as it would be more of a hassle to get into. With the Buggyguard, parking it 'backwards', having decorations (stickers, tape, balloons etc) your stroller will be very unattractive and too much hassle to a potential thief. We have the added bonus that, if you are not familiar with it, our stroller is a nightmare to fold down and the actual seat part can have a part removed that attaches it to the frame which isn't any trouble for moving it about but without it the whole thing is utterly useless, if you sat a child in it with the part removed they would topple out one side so I plan on removing that and taking it onto rides etc with me too.

We stupidly left my son's shield And sword from BBB in our stroller thinking it would be fine. Someone stole the shield. He is devastated, so I will be buying him a new one and NOT leaving anything of value in our stroller again.

I posted earlier in this thread. We decked our stroller out to make it super recognizable and too much of a hassle to take. Bought a lock too. Ended up not using any of it (here now). DD, 20m, has refused to use it. Go figure.
