Is stroller theft a problem at the parks

Hi all!
I've been lurking for a bit, but this is my very first post! We will be taking our kids (DS5 and DD3) next May for their first trip and I have been debating which stroller to bring. We have a BOB revolution that will be nicer for reclining to nap and has more storage or an umbrella stroller that does recline, but not as much. Space isn't an issue because we are camping in our trailer. I was just a little concerned about leaving the BOB at every ride.
Thanks!

No we brought our uppa baby vista and city elite double and never had a problem. Don't leave anything valuable in it though - camera phone etc

So many of the stroller parking areas are staffed with a cm that keeps the area orderly, etc. too...While I am sure they don't know whos stroller is whos and thats not their job, I would bet their presence does cut down on theft.

You'll want to think about how easy it will be removing the kids and all your stuff and folding it up to ride the buses.

I took an expensive stroller a couple of years ago - my Mamas and Papas stroller. Zero problems. And much easier to spot because it didn't look like everyone else's :)
I have seen other BOBs, Quinny's, etc at WDW and I believe there is no issue :) just make sure to keep the valuables out of it. It's probably more prevalent for someone to pick up a camera or a wallet out of a stroller than take the stroller itself!

We are here now with a Jogger Summit an d haven't had any issues. A couple of yrs ago, we rented a city mini and item were taken for it...hat, spraying fan and light up toys.

We had no problems with the two strollers we bought. Granted, they weren't expensive. We kept our valuables on us or in our bag and took our bag on rides. (Not a diaper bag, just a small bag for our valuables.)

You could also put a placard of some sort with your name on it. I saw alot that said, "The Smith Family" or "Princess Abigail's Carriage."

Stroller theft does happen. Not so long ago a poster reported how they saw their stroller rolling away, followed the person out to the parking lot and called security. When they opened the trunk of their car it was full of strollers!

Odds are yours won't get stolen, but there are no guarantees. With people having easy access to Ebay and Craigslist, a thief can make a fortune in one day at the parks. If you wan't to be sure your stroller won't be taken, buy a lock and lock 2 of the wheels together.

We are taking our iCandy Apple with us in November. I was worried about theft as it is a very expensive pushchair so I have bought a Buggyguard lock which I can tie around the back wheels and through the lower frame to completely disable those wheels. It means that if anyone did decide to steal it they would have to tip it onto it's front wheels and push it and this is very awkward to do for a longer distance but only slightly inconvenient for CMs who need to rearrange the stroller parking. I was going to buy a cheaper pushchair to take but my parents didn't fork out so much money on it for us not to use it and it is really comfortable for my DD too. She will be turning 4 when we go and is too tall to nap in most of the little run around pushchairs as when they are reclined her head flops off the back. If you want some peace of mind (like I did) then have a look at the Buggyguard and just remember to leave nothing in your pushchair when it is parked. If you do leave anything in it and come back to it looking like it has been messed with then remember there are squirrels all over the parks, we watched one ransack a ton of pushchairs outside the Land in EPCOT, we even 'shooed' him away but he just kept coming back looking for food! Another tip for you, if you are leaving your pushchair for a while, 99% of the time it will be moved by the CMs who are keeping the stroller parking tidy so don't panic if you can't see it right away. To help with this buy a balloon and tie it to the handle so you can spot it easily in the stroller park (we also write our name on the balloon in huge letters with the Sharpie we take for autographs!) and if you are leaving it for a while put the waterproof over it, better safe than sorry!!! :)

You can't lock the wheels together. The CMS move strollers around the stroller parking areas all the time. They take no responsibility for wheels breaking due to locks.

Is this new? My parents used a lock on my little sisters pushchair at Disney from newborn until she was 6 and they were going at least once per year. They never had any issues with this at all. All a CM has to do is lift the back wheels slightly and push the stroller using its front wheels. I have bought a Buggyguard for our pushchair when we go as I thought this was perfectly acceptable :confused3

Here is a trick. Tie a plastic bag on the handle with something in it and preferably a rolled up diaper (clean but could be dirty for all they know) and NO ONE will take your stroller. We read about this many, many years ago and used it for all of our three kids and then grandkids and it ALWAYS worked!

We will just be using a buggy guard to be safe...CMs can still move it without issue

Are they common? Like will the CM's be able to recognize what it is and know to lift it up on the front wheels to move? Because I could see a CM being in a hurry to move a bunch of strollers and trying to move it without lifting it on the front wheels, breaking the lock.

You can lock 2 of the wheels together. That way the CMs can still roll it around if they need to move it. They only take issue if they cannot roll the stroller at all.

Regardless of stolen or not, be prepared for at least one or two "Where the heck is my stroller" moments.

Sometimes they arent even close to where you left them in the stroller corral.

That's an old trick that everyone knows. What person in their right mind would leave a soiled diaper tied to the stroller instead of tossing it out?

Some strollers you can just pop one wheel off and take it with you can slow down a thief. Just make sure you leave the back wheels on so they can easily move it if need be.

Exactly there are garbage cans every five feet at wdw. Why would anyone leave a dirty diaper on a stroller

We learned markings are necessary, after having our two umbrella strollers taken. We discovered two others that were very similar to ours, but our strollers were gone. So even "accidental thefts" are possible! At least, we assumed there was no intent.
