Is staying at Poly managable on NYE?

We are staying at BCV and switching to the Poly on 12/31/2004 for a few days. Our plans were to go to Epcot during the day for awhile and then come back for a dinner at monorail resort (haven't picked where yet) and then back to our Lagoon view room to watch fireworks. After reading some of the posts here I am worried that the Poly will be mobbed with "visitors". Will the beaches of the Poly be unbearable then? Should I pick a different hotel? Thanks

It is manageable - at least it was in 2001. We were staying at the Dolphin and then the poly - and we didn't hae a bad time at all

We ate the OHana's then went out on the beach to watch - it was EXTREMELY cold - so maybe that was part of the crowd control, but we even got cabanas which kept us a little warmer. We got the last seating at Ohanas - food was good, but we missed the fun games - so I would eat earlier next time.

Have fun - from your lagoon view room - you should have no problems!

We we were staying off property but we had dinner at Ohanas on New Years Day during Wishes last year...a fantastic way to start off the year! I had to give a credit card and was told that I would be charged $20 if we canceled or didn't show. Despite the huge crowd around the bar, we only had to wait about 10 minutes. I watched one man get nasty with the CM because she couldn't seat his large party at the last minute without a PS. She handled it a lot better than I would have!

We also went to the Luau on the second and walked around the resort a little afterwards and it was almost erie how dead it was, although the show seemed to be sold out.

I'm not sure about New Years Eve, because we usually arrive on the 1st or 2nd which has always been wonderful and quiet, but school in the Atlanta area starts back up later this year, I think the 6th, so I don't know if that will effect crowds this year or not, but we decided to wait until Spring to go.
