Is star wars finally coming?

With the closure of American Idol experience at the end of this year I now have a another closure rumor at this point. Indiana jones epic stunt spectacular is now supposedly closing at the end of this year also. And this article also suggests that Star Wars construction will start as soon as spring 2015. Is DHS finally gearing up for something big?

We can hope. There is a lot of space. The newer technologies have so much potential. I would love more 3-D rides.

Nah- DHS has the 3D Star Tours ride already in place.....just sitting there waiting for the rest of Star Wars Land!! I would like to see Disney make different types and varieties of rides instead of a whole bunch of different themed 3D simulator rides like Universal!!

The argument between disney and universal is never going to end. Disney is ahead of Universal in many ways thats its very hard to compare the two. Each have their respective things that make them great and bad at the same time. competition between the two is great for everyone.

They both have their strengths and weaknesses. However, you never doubt your adversary. And many Dis Fans like to doubt UC or what they have up their sleeves and I get this is a Disney based board but for someone to continually slam on the park down the road is annoying and old. Disneyland and USH don't have to deal with this crap and they even sell each others tickets on location.

California is a whole different ball game Florida is a world destination thats why there is such big competition. California theme parks aren't looked at that way.

Now they just have to build that Indiana Jones mine cart coaster old project at Adventureland to take full advantage of Lucas Films, and they can proceed to build whatever they want at DHS

Sounds exciting though. The expansion is very much needed.

Actually, the post above doesn't dis (pun intended) on the Universal parks. It disses on DHS! In fact it paints Uni in a good light, "stealing headlines and eating up market share."

And Uni is often described as being full of only coasters and simulators, whereas Disney has a wide range of rides and entertainment. Not that either is bad, both work for their perspective goals.

Harry Potter is huge, but does not have the staying power or cultural penetration that Star Wars does. Star Wars is the most ubiquitous franchise; in the USA, anyway.

And you seem a bit sensitive about an issue that wasn't really raised in this thread! I note that you said, "you dis fans" and don't include yourself. If you aren't a dis fan, why are you here? Most of us, are fans of both, btw, even if we argue the merits of one over the other. Chill and enjoy.

Oh yeah.... I completely agree and thank you Yellowstone!! I don't know what his problem is ----I'm talking about a theme park and he's acting like I insulted his kin or something!! And- you are right about Star Wars- it's all that and a bag of chips and will shut down Harry Potter. Star Wars has new cartoons out, new movies coming out and video games!! Angry Birds Star Wars is a big hit and the next Angry Birds will feature the Transformers ----- not Harry Potter. It's going to be the Autobirds versus the Deceptihogs!!

I really wouldn't underestimate Harry Potter. It's one of the best-selling book series of all time, it is the second biggest movie franchise behind The Avengers (with 3 more films than HP), approaching 20 years of success, 3 themed parks (2 of them yet to open) and its own studio tour. Not to mention the spin-off series that will only increase the franchise's longevity.

Sure, if there's something that can compete with WWoHP is a Star Wars land. There's no way it will ''shut down'' Harry Potter though. Let's face it. This is the best thing to happen to US since Marvel's characters.

Anyone who thinks so is delusional. I badly want to go to USF just because of HP, but my next trip will be Disney only once again.
