Some people reading message board rumors from so-called insiders are a bit way too willing to take them as gospel truth.
We should all remember the Whisper Down the Lane game. Even if the info is coming from someone who actually is inside Disney, that info is coming, at least, second hand and each step of the way it passes through someone with a particular perception and agenda.
We know that Disney wants to exploit Star Wars - it wouldn't have paid a boat load of money for the property, set up an annual film schedule, create a tie-in with Phineas and Ferb, etc. They've already added a Star Tours attraction and do the Star Wars weekends. In fact, didn't we just hear that Disney was concerned they were becoming too little girl focused on princesses and fairies, and cut back on a fairy land in MK?
What is more likely to have happened? Maybe Disney was strongly considering adding Cars Land to DHS after DCA. But then they bought Star Wars and started coming up with ideas on adding more Star Wars to the parks, again, probably DHS.
But doing both would obviously be a massive investment and a huge change to the existing park. Naturally, they had to carefully consider whether both of those investments in the same park were the best use of their $, or whether they should just go with Star Wars and drop Cars Land. Also, any type of new land development requires long-term consideration of what they want to do with the park. Those decisions take time to consider and make.
Certainly, you could see someone expressing an opinion that one of many reasons Star Wars and Cars Land at the same time at the same park might not be the best idea is that traditionally Star Wars and cars tend to be more attractive to boys, and DHS is lighter on attractions maybe more traditionally geared toward girls.
And so even though a hole host of things are being considered because any massive investment, particularly coming out of this economy, requires careful consideration, you can see somebody complain about one opinion, blowing it out of proportion.
Happens all the time with just about anything. Everyone has their own perceptions and agendas. Taking any single piece of information, coming second, third, or more hands away, as gospel truth is a bit short sighted, particularly when it's inconsistent with actual conduct.
