I am visiting SSR for the first time in June. For people that have stayed at SSR how does it compare?

We really like SSR. There are a few items that I would hope Disney would do differently. First is the food court there. It tries to be a bit upscale but how can a food court be upscale? They should remember that there are a lot of children staying there and menu choices for kids are limited. The main pool, High Rock Springs, is great except I think it will be overcrowded after the entire SSR building contruction is done. Not a problem now, but it could be in the future. Trash receptacles. I know...this is very minor, but I was on the 3rd floor and had to tote our trash all the way down to the first floor. As far as I could tell, this was the only place to do so. If I missed others, they weren't well marked. Pros??? New. Everything is new and I love that. I know we weren't the first people to stay in our room, but it felt that way. Quiet pool. Really great. We were at Congress Park and the quiet pool is close to DTD. It's a great view. Checkin CM's. We've been twice (going again this June) and both times the CM's were top notch and made us feel special. I think I read on another thread that SSR CM's were trained at OKW before moving over. If true, that would explain it.

Very nice and well appointed rooms. We would only change the door situation for the bathroom/closet/dressing area. We found it to be extremely quiet!

Ohhhhh forgot about that one! The maze of doors. The more I stood there and thought about it the more confused I got.. hehehe.. great place to play door tag tho.

Three wks from today we start our 3rd stay home :goodvibes :goodvibes

We love SSR and highly recommend it! Likes and dislikes are highly subjective but we find the resort to be perfect for us. We like the landscaping, the pools, the small town feel fo the resort and the accommodations. It is a large resort, but the layout is easy to walk and enjoyable. We have enjoyed Congress Park and look forward to trying the Springs in the future.

We've had two great stays at SSR - I do wish the food court had more choices, though. The pools and facilities are wonderful - my daughter likes the slide :flower: I like the spa!! :cool1:
have a great time!

We like the OKW-style parking (well, ok, it's not TOTALLY like OKW in that your car isn't RIGHT outside your door -- but it's close!) We liked the pool (I know lots of folks call it small -- it does appear to be smaller than, say, the main pool at WL, or BWV -- but we didn't ever feel crowded in it, and it was August and HOT, so I would imagine quite a few folks were in it then!) My kids liked the "quiet pool" at night because of the view (all the twinkling lights from DTD!) We all loved its proximity to DTD -- very nice! We think of DTD as the 5th park! We had a view of the water and DTD -- absolutely lovely at night. The grounds were very nice and would only improve (the plantings were quite young when we were there; plus, Hurricane Charley had zipped through during our stay -- that didn't help!)

As for the room itself -- well, it does seem smaller, though not so much that we ever felt cramped. The doors are a bit confusing, and that sensor in the bathroom a tad hypersensitive, and a bit stingy in bath / kitchen counter space and overall closet space. But it was far nicer than I expected (it seems kinda "grandma-ish" in the photos -- it felt more elegant than stagnant in person!) and our family enjoyed it!

Some other plusses we experienced: staff were very good with our kids, especially; Community hall was very nice and so convenient to the pool; nice shop (although we though the dining was really poor... they need a full-service!)

All in all -- really nice stay, would go back in a heartbeat! !
