Is Splash Mountain still known as Flash Mountain?

I heard that people used to flash the camera. I want my family to get pictures of ourselves on this ride but am concerned about other people in the same log flashing for the camera.

Some people will always try stupid stuff like that. Since the pics are shown on a computer screen before you buy the CM sees them and if there is anything inappropriate they delete the pic before the public ever sees it. Chances are pretty slim this will happen to you though.

If someone flashes, they delete the picture and the non-flashers in the log are given the option of going to the front of the ride to ride again for another picture (or at least this is what they do at DL). can't see it being much different at the world.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I've heard of "Flash Mountain" and have even seen the pics from DL on another website, but I've never expirienced a "flash" at MK. We ride Splash over and over again while we're there, and make plenty of silly faces at the camera ourselves, but no flash action. I believe Disney has CM's monitor the pictures as they come through and delete the ones that are indecent.

Never had this happen while we were riding Splash. Let's keep it that way--it's a family park people!!

While in WDW in early Dec, I rode Splash with a DIS buddy. For the first time ever, I got those arms up in the air, eyes wide open...should have been a great shot. We were in the back seat but I was oblivious to those in front of me. When we got to the photo viewing spot, where our photo should have been was a messege that said that sadly our photo had been washed away. I was so bummed. Obviously something had happened in one of the rows in front of us. So.....had to do the whole thing over again to prove to my dd, at home, that I did in fact get my arms up as far as they would go!!!! But we weren't given front of the line or anything like that.

If this was a major problem, do you think they would have a photo op in the first place? A few troublemakers can make a lot of noise, but they are still just that... few. You really have no reason to worry, and if by chance there was a problem, it is easily solved. Hope you have a wonderful flash (though not Flash) picture! :goofy:

This is what I'm concerned about. I don't want this to happen to me.

Oh my gosh -- please don't let worrying about something like this cause you distress! I would say by the size of your siggy that your family would take up the majority of the log, and I think the overall chances of something like that happening are minimal anyway.

I hope you have a great ride, and an awesome trip! Hakuna Ma Tata! :)

i would not worry about this in the least

i was at disney and while riding splash mountain the person and his friends behind us all put up their middle fingers. at the time i thought it would ruin the picture but when i got to the photo op station they pulled us aside, appologized for the incident, and gave us fast passes to ride again.

dont worry about it! :thumbsup2

have a great time!!! :clown:

My son's first ride on Splash came out with a great pic! We saw it on the monitor, ordered it, paid for it, but when we went to pick it up a CM met us there and told us we couldn't have it. The reason was because a mom in the back of the log hand pulled her child into her lap for the drop. That is a "no-no" (though I don't think I've ever seen it SPECIFICALLY stated in the rules) and they won't sell the picture b/c if that Mom later claimed she or her child was injured on the ride and had that picture they could say Disney "allowed" them to ride that way. So we couldn't get our picture (they didn't even stop to look at it). Her child got upset at one of the smaller drops and I think she just pulled her into her lap to calm her down. Unfortunately for us it was at park closing so we had no option of riding again AND it was the day our APs expired so we didn't have the option of going back the next day. DS was very upset. :( It had taken us all day to build up his courage to ride a big boy ride and he was SO proud of himself and SO excited to get to bring the picture home to show his friends. Between being tired (it was 11 PM) and not getting his picuture we had to deal with a MAJOR meltdown. Not the best memory to end our trip with. :(

That said...# of pictures not allowed compared to the # of pictures taken, the percentage is really really low. So the odds are decidedly in your favor that your family will not have a problem with flashers, "bird shooters" or lap sitters in your log. ;)

This discussion was on here when I first joined. A CM popped in and said that "flashers" are promptly escorted out of the park...small consulation I know, but at least the "Flasher" ends up getting what they deserve. Sometimes others don't stop to think (or care) that some of us are there with our children.

We have rode splash mountain several times, and have never once experienced flash mountain. Several dorky faces on the camera, on couple kissing, thats all we've seen!

I would not even give it a second thought. Never have seen this but if it is going to happen there is nothing you can do about it so why worry. Enjoy Splash!!

Flash Mountain strikes from time to time. We were riding in a log where whole front row flashed. They were off the ride before it stopped, no one was escorted everywhere. Its a phase some girls go through, a funny one I might add...

The 2006 edition of the Unofficial Guide has a half page about "Flash Mountain" and they practically glamorize it. I'm sure that some people will now be more tempted than ever to flash the camera.

I have been on Splash Mountain many times at WDW and DL and thankfully no one has done anything crude or stupid.

I can't even imagine anyone flashing the camera. If I am not hanging on for dear life I feel like I am going to fly right out of that log !!
