Is Spectro a not to be missed event?

You should try to see it once. It's really pretty. It's not a must do everytime for us -none of the parades are. Of course we live in south Louisiana, probably the parade capital of the US.

If you happen to go on a night when they do the parade twice (usually only when the park is open until 11 or later), and you and your kids can stay out that long, see the second parade. The crowds are much thinner. Also, try to watch from Frontierland--the crowds aren't nearly as deep as they are on Main Street, there are better vantage points, and the characters seem to spend more time coming over and greeting the crowd.

I agree! My family always waits for the second parade; usually watching it in Frontierland over by Pecos Bill's or Splash Mountain. We love this parade and the first time I hear the music, I know I'm really at WDW!

I love all the nighttime shows - Spectromagic, Illuminations, Wishes, Fantasmic and would miss any of them if they were discontinued. The only one I was disappointed in was the Electrical Parade (the music drove me crazy!). I wouldn't miss any of these but the daytime parades are not a big deal for me.

I love spectromagic... really it's still just a parade but with fancy lights.. but what always gets me is the music :teeth: can't say that it's a "must-see" since there are so many other excellent things to see such as Fantasmic and Illuminations (which I would both categorize as a must-see).. but if you have the time it's definitely entertaining. :thumbsup2

Those spectro men are freaky looking. I would much rather watch the old Electric Light Parade. Nothing compares to that. Also miss the laser light show at EPCOT. I don't care for when they change things.

We love Spectromagic, it's the first parade my DD wants to see when we arrive in WDW. IMO, it's a definate must see! :thumbsup2

We watched the parade again this year fir the first time in several trips. We were at Mk in late June and there was a late afternoon-early evening thunderstorm that sent people fleeing. We were able to get an excellent view just walking up 10 minutes before the parade. If you can't get close enough for a good view go ride rides while the crowds are at the parade. I will not sit and wait for a parade but if I can walk up and watch I will.

We saw it last week for first time. Id read where it was not to be missed, so we rushed over from Kona dinner to get there in time for 7pm parade on Thursday. We got there early and sat curbside, so front row. It was quite fun, very pretty and cool. Not sure Id do it again, or at least, make such an effort to get there at night to see it again. Were not at the parks in the evening. Too pooped. I was worried about trying to get out right after (we werent staying for Wishes), and it wasnt as bad as I thought going thru the crowd to get out. Id make it a point to see it at least once for sure.

The "Spetro Men" are only in the first 5% or so of the parade.

It's my favorite and we make sure to work it into our schedule every trip. You should try to see it at least once even though it gets crowded. DBF likes it, but his fav is Illuminations. I could park him there every night!

Here's a link to a multi-camera video I made of Spectromagic just this year.

I quality is very low due to limitations of the web, but you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Spectromagic Parade- In 2 Parts:

Thank you for the links. They were very helpful. Spectro looks lovely, but not something that is a "must see" for me. Maybe I am missing something. Maybe parades are just not for everyone. Maybe when I can afford to stay on the monorail line :teeth: and do not have to worry about fighting the crowds I will be more tempted to see it.

we really liked spectro . we are not really ones that sit for an hour or two either. i know a couple of times we stood across from caseys on the corner. i think you should see it ,you will enjoy it.

The music for SpectroMagic is some of the best original park music, IMHO. Just hearing that fanfare is enough to give you chills...

On this magic ni---ight
A symphony in Spectromagic

There is just something about the Spectromusic, there is nothing like it in the parks, I think. It is a close 1st over Fantasmic(which is also freakin amazing).

Definately see SpectroMagic

Its one of my favorite parades. I like the special holiday ones, but its always fun to watch Spectro over and over, I never get tired of seeing it. I don't know why.

We were really dissapointed in Spectro. It is really the only parade that we didn't love.

I personally love spectromagic, love the music, love the giggling clown guys at the front of it, the whole ball of wax-------you can watch a very good version of it on spectromagic.com------yes a whole web area dedicated to this one parade "glimmering, shimmering, carouseling......" and the sad thing is if you ask my 5 yr old what mommy's favorite parade is he cuts right into the whole spectromagic song!!!!! I LOVE that kid!!!!! :rotfl2:

We LOVE Spectromagic! :cheer2: We bought and listen to the music all of the time at home. It is one of our favorites :thumbsup2 We had a great location to watch from----it was right in front of the Hall of Presidents. We had to wait a bit for the parade to come from Main Street but it was not crowded at all and were right up at the rope. :woohoo:
