Is Spaceship Earth closed completely?

:(

I had no idea it was closed.
My dd will be disapointed on our next visit... however, I feel that since this trip is a total surprise for her (she has NO idea)... she'll deal with this closing fine :)

I love this site for all the info!

SE might be closed till November BUT, Haunted Mansion reopens in less than two weeks!!! With a brand new scene AND two revamped sections as well as other changes. I'm beyond excited.

In an insider magazine that I get it gave complete details. It did mention that the new partner is Siemens which is really not new news. They are updating the scenes....I am assuming that means rehabing the characters and costumes (as they did with It's A Small World, sorry I should not have brought that ride up:lmao: ). They are adding touch screens so that you can interact with the scenes by placing yourself in the scenes. How? I don't know. They are also updaing the sound system. Sorry ....I should go and get the mag. and just quote it but that was the jist of it.

Oh, also along with the "game room" additions.

They are re-doing the entire sound system, and there is a rumor that the voiceover is being redone by a new narrator.

That's the part that makes me break out in a cold sweat when I think about it. :sad1: I can't even imagine SSE without Jeremy Irons' wonderful voice doing the narration! Bleh!!

There's a strong rumor, that's come from a couple of sources, that the new narration has already been recorded by Patrick Stewart. If this is true, I think he'll be a fine replacement for the wonderful work that Jeremy Irons did.

I agree, Patrick Stewart would/will be a wonderful choice. However, there are many of us who still consider Jeremy Irons to be an interloper; the only TRUE narrator for SSE is, was, and always will be Walter Cronkite!!

From what I understand quite a bit is being done. The animatronics are being updated, as well as costumes and certain scenes(also the sound system). The present ending will be no more, as a new one is being added that will give the rider three choices to make about their future. I love what I've read so far and am hoping they are bringing back some of the feel of the "old" Epcot. If they'd bring back Walter Cronkites voice as narration, I'd be ecstatic(won't happen, but I'd still be ecstatic:upsidedow )

I loved the Walter Cronkite narration. But he was an interloper too. The original narrator for SSE was Vic Perrin. ;)

I also read the Patrick Stewart rumor in another website - along with Tomorrow's Child possibly coming back (in some form).

In the words of the cowardly lion..."Ain't dat da truth" What an incredible voice that man had/has. He could tell you that an atomic bomb was about to detonate in your back yard and you would just say...Oh, isn't that nice. Thanks for letting us know, Uncle Walt.

Okay, I don't feel so worried now. If there is anyone I would like to hear narrate SSE as much if not more than Jeremy Irons, it would be Patrick Stewart. *swoon* :cloud9: I hadn't heard that rumor -- I'm much happier now! (I'm one of the few, though, who didn't like Walter Cronkite's narration. Guess I'm weird. :rolleyes1 )

But I would definitely be glad if they smoothed out the ride some!

I wish they'd bring back Vic Perrin.
And I hope they keep Rome - I LOVE the bacon smell when you pass it burning (in the original narration - ". . . . Imperial Rome, lost in the ashes of time. . . .")
