Is something on fire at the port?

I was wondering the same thing. Ds and i were looking at it at 230pm and it almost looked like the Magic had way too much smoke coming from it! When i looked again a few minutes ago it looked like it was acutally coming from beyond the magic.

I saw the same thing and was wondering what it was. Does anyone know???

It looks like the smoke is coming from Merritt Island. The area accross the water due west of the Magic is the southern end of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Looks lke a grass fire not uncommon this time of year. It is warm (about 85 degrees) and windy today, with the wind coming from the south, so those fires spread fast. In this case, it is in a relatively uninhabited area.

Based on our wind direction for today and low humidity, the smoke is probably from a Merritt Island area brush fire. I checked the local TV outlets in the area but nothing has been posted on their web sites.

That can't be a good sign. I wonder what the people on board are thinking. They leave soon right?? It looks pretty bad whatever it is and it keeps getting worse!!

Whooooo...that kinda wrecks the on-deck sailaway party......too smoky!

You can see the fire in the back ground now. Looks like RCL has already left and Magic will not be far behind.

I just saw the web cam shot. Wow that must be a huge fire. The ship should be leaving around 5:00 I think. Kathy

I'll bet the safety drill was no fun.

Looks like the Magic got underway OK - fire seems to get better and then flare up again based on the smoke patterns the last hour or so....

The Magic is underway on 3-6-04. I wonder if they were able to have the sail away party outside with all the smoke that was blowing around???

I reload the cams about every two minutes just to be safe, I got a nice shot of the Magic going past Two Palms today, I will post it after the photo is approved in the DIS Photo Gallery.

I just uploaded the two palms photo into my website. here is the Magic sailing past Two Palms a little bit ago.

The fire was a controlled burn. They have to do this from time to time to control the underbrush. If they didn't do this it would be harder to fight with limited access to overgrown areas. Nothing to worry about. Also, most of the smoke was clearing the terminal and I don't think it would have affected the sail away party

Hi, Verandah Man!

How do you get a pic of the Two Palms Cam? I've tried right-clicking, but it doesn't do anything. Is there another way to save a pic? :scratchin

Thanks for your help!

What you can try to do is click on near the bottom of the page where it states "If your browser does not support Java" or something to that effect. Once you do that, then you will be able top right click on the photo.
