Or is this just another thing Disney is taking away? Pay more to get less...:confused3

Some on here are going to give a quick yes to your question, but yes the parade is going away. I do not however think it is due to pure budget reasons. A lot of construction is going to be taking place at Animal Kingdom within the next few years. Avatar is out of the way but new viewing areas about to be made for Rivers of Light. This is coming sooner then 2017 so within the next couple of years major work is going to be done to the areas around the water. Also other projects are expected to take place. The parade is terrible at closing paths. Once it starts you cant seem to get out of the way. So at the time nothing is going to replace it, but something might come after everything is done in the park!

On a previous podcast Dustin explained how the parade would be affected by the construction and there really was no way to re-route it. Since he used to work there he knew the back stage areas that the floats needed were going to be blocked off during the Avatar construction. Who knows what they will do in the future?

I would bet when the dust has settled that it will return more robust than ever incorporating Pandora into the mix.

I just hope that if they are going to reuse the "floats" from the current parade for a parade in the future, that they keep them clean, dry and covered, making sure that they don't rot from poor storage.

That's the fate that befell the parade vehicles of SpectroMagic at MK.
That parade's gear rotted beyond repair and the popular SpectroMagic
can't return.

I second that... But if a new parade is in the works, how about “Tapestry Of Animals” :rolleyes1

I wonder if this will impact attendance at the park. Not because people go for the parade, but many see AK as a half day park. The late afternoon parade is something of an incentive to stay just a few more hours. Without it, do you think we will see more people leave earlier in the day? I know that we have often been done for the day and waited around an extra hour or two to watch the parade.

I know we have been talking about the loss of the parade, but does anyone know when this will occur? I can't remember if a date has been discussed. We are going in October, and my friend has never seen this parade, and I hope it is still there.

Then I'm very sorry - last day for the parade is 31st May.

When we were there 2 weeks ago, several CMs said not to miss the parade because it would be discontinued soon and that Disney had no plans to replace it with another parade. I know - CMs say many things that do not turn out to be true, but the story was consistent.

What they told you certainly coincides with various reports that have been circulating on the boards for a while so I'd give them credit for being correct on this one too :)

From the HUB:
FAQ

Why are you doing this?
Work on the largest expansion in the history of Disney’s Animal Kingdom will reduce viewing space for Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade to the point that it will no longer make sense to operate it after May 31, 2014. As part of the largest expansion in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park history, all-new entertainment and experiences are coming to the park over the next few years.

What will happen to the Cast Members in Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade?
All Cast involved will be redeployed to other locations.

Will the parade reopen once the expansion is complete?
No. The parade is expected to close permanently after May 31, 2014.

Is a new parade being developed for Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
As part of the largest expansion in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park history, all-new entertainment and experiences are coming to the park over the next few years. At this time there are no plans to introduce a new parade in the park.

I'm personally glad the parade is closing. I wouldn't mind it if it didn't block so many walkways. Then you have to either detour around the entire park or take a chance walking on their temporary small walkways next to the parade and having to deal with people trying to stop on the walkway to watch.

Sucks for people that have never watched it, but I'm sure everything coming to AK will be bigger and better than the current parade and won't be missed for long

Oh darn! Well, this makes planning Animal Kingdom day a bit easier, but I did like this parade very much! Thanks for repeating the info for me, I appreciate it very much!

We miss it by a couple of weeks so it's a bit frustrating but it is what it is. At least FOTLK will be open for those of us going later. :thumbsup2

And you're right, it takes a bit of pressure off the AK park planning for us too. No more shuffling FP's and shows to fit in with getting to the parade route in time.

Actually once Pandora opens and the evening safari and nightime show that will change alot for AK and make it a full day park.

This^

I'm always afraid I'll get land locked and can't get somewhere.

Unfortunately, it looks like our trip falls after the parade ends. We really liked this parade. Maybe they could replace with more show times for the shows until the new areas open.

It has already affected our plans. No parade combined with FP+ means we decided to do the attractions we want to at AK early then head out after lunch instead of staying to watch the parade and using later FP's until dinner. We also dropped our breakfast ADR in the park in favor of riding things earlier.

Of course we've got our next trip already planned for 2018 after everything reopens so we're on the hook for more later. LOL

And for the same reason, I changed around some things to add an AK afternoon to my plans since crowds will clear out earlier instead of waiting around for the parade. I'll catch some shows, ride a few rides in the last hour and head to Boma for dinner. I am already planning an EMH morning at AK so this will be more relaxing.
