Is something crazy going on with MDE room reservations?

For two days now, every hotel seems to have "no availability" no matter what fall dates I put in. I then downloaded Foxfire to go in through a different browser other than Chrome, and ONE hotel showed up with availability, albeit at $1700 ish a night. Is there something going on? I was searching the last week of October and also the last week of NOvember.

I'm not sure, but I just tried to pretend to book for end of October week and All Star, Pop and Saratoga Springs was showing up as the only ones available. All Star and Pop was normal price (under $200 a night)

50th Anniversary (people want to be there at some point), pent up demand for travel in the US in general and NOW vaccinated foreigners being able to come? Plus holiday stuff?

Availability is slim pickings.

Try adding a night or taking a night away from your search, 3 nights I get one hotel, 4 nights I have my choice.

Disney’s booking computers algorithm somehow factors in minimum stays it seems, sort of like searching for a 3 person ADR is sometimes less successful than searching for a 4 person ADR.

Luckily, I have reservations made a long time ago, but I always like to check for something that might entice me to switch hotels. It's getting very frustrating. Thank goodness I have reservations.

I called the other day because DH wanted to add an extra day to our Oct.31-Nov.2 reservation and no luck.

The last week of Oct and the first full week in Nov. are full of activities.

The last Boo Bash is Oct. 31
RunDisney - Nov. 5-7
New Jersey Week - Nov. 4th - 11th
Disney Very Merry After Hours events start Nov. 8th
Veterans (Nov. 11) Holiday Week
All of Nov - Guests from UK and EU are able to travel to the US ( Florida is a big destination. Many had to cancel Oct. trips)

The Weather is usually Great!

What is NJ week?

Most of Oct and November have been booked for months. Sometimes you can catch a cancellation if you are lucky. Also *** was supposed to open but they canceled it with no new date so all those people have to be moved. POR and POFQ are scheduled to open in mid to late October, hopefully that goes smoothly.
plenty of DVC reservation you can rent from owners for cash on many websites.

Im local AP and we book for 1 night. For the rest of the year there seem to be no 1 night ressies. You can find 2 nights, but can I cancel 1 night out of it then? Obviously rooms available for the night I want but cant book or find a 1 night. Not right.

Keep trying and add or subtract number of days. I had to go on multiple times and kept changing my dates and span of dates before I finally got something.

I thought Jersey Week was leading up to the 4th/5th this year. We check in November 5th which we chose before RunDisney announced Wine and Dine was in-person. I'm preparing for chaos and hoping maybe it won't be as bad as I think. I keep checking our dates for availability, and there has been nothing for a very long time. Every once in a while a $1000+ room will show up. I feel like a rookie picking the week that I did, but it was what worked for all of us.

And thank goodness for the probability of great weather! Thanks!

I am a little iffy on Jersey week since it tends to move between the 1st & 2nd week's of Nov.

If that is the only time that works for your schedule just go with the flow. Don't forget to check at the 30 day mark for cancellations and then again around Oct. 15 at a minimum.

Before the closure/reopening you could not easily drop a day or two - I don’t know about now, though. It makes sense from Disney’s perspective, it’s a lot more work/cost to turnover a room in a day than to have the same party stay in that room for several days. I live in a place popular with visitors and hotels often have minimum stay requirements here.
