I'm wondering if dd5 would be ok on Soarin? I've read some reviews on it and it sounds like great fun, but I wasn't sure if it was fast or if there was anything "adventurous" to it.

Need answers from all you experts! Thanks!!

I think it depends on the five-year old. I took my six-year old grandson on it this past June and he said it was "boring." Me? I didn't feel secure enough in the seat, and it took me a while to adjust to the height. I actually felt a bit anxious, and I'm not sure why. This is the first attraction that I have experienced this. That said, I will ride again.

Hi~

I took my 5yr DS on the ride and he loved it!! It was one of his favorite rides.

I hope this helps.

I didnt find it scarry at all, it is very gentil and smooth. It takes a while to get used to the sensation, but its great. I saw plenty of young children riding, who didnt have any problems. It is like a big, gentil simulated movie. It is very cute, but if they are scared of hights, then they may not want to ride. But i am scared of heights and had no problem. You will always be next to them, holding there hand, but it is very gentil, no jerky movements at all. I felt very safe and secure

Hi there. Just back from our 1st trip to WDW. Our whole family, which includes an adult who will NOT under any circumstances fly in an airplane and our 3 kids ages 8, 11, & 14, all really loved Soarin'. I say definitely give it a try with your 5 year old. As stated earlier, it is not "jerky" at all and is a gentle, flowing ride. You really do feel just like a hangglider and it is truly a wonderful experience. It was probably my DH's and my favorite ride of ALL the parks we visited, and we went to all 4 of the main parks plus BB & Disney Quest! I highly recommend going on this and doubt your 5 year old would be too afraid. But beware, the wait gets VERY long so go 1st thing or do fastpass. I saw waits of 70+ minutes both days we were at Epcot. And I think the preshow for this ride is one of the best at all 4 of the rides. The guy who does it is just hilarious! Have fun :goodvibes P.S. If you're wearing flipflops, better take them off and hold them or store in the "stowage" area or you may lose them!

He should like it, my 3 1/2 year old loves it, especially if he likes fast rides.

Took our 4yo and 6yo DGSs on it and they loved it. Will be back next week and they want to do it again and again and...

My youngest dd - 4, loves Soarin'. We rode it several times. It is simply amazing.

dd calls it the "Full House ride" because the view of the Golden Gate bridge looks like the opening credits of the tv show.

We went with my ds4, dd6 and dd8, they all loved Soarin!! I doubt a 5 year would have any problems ( except for the line).

Thanks for all of your input. It sounds like she will like it. I'm not too worried now.

Since most of you made it sound like it is pretty gentle, is it something that a 2 year old could handle if being held in a lap?

no babies in laps on Soarin :cloud9:
there's a height restriction ... 42 inches

pretty sure there's baby swap available

Actually the height requirement is 40 inches. My son only made it if he had sneakers. His sandels were not high enough. No flames he was totally safe. He was measured about 4 times on all 40 inch rides (TT and Srn).

Soarin is a great ride but more importantly a very mild ride. I would say that anyone who meets the hight requirement should give it a try. It was a truely amazing experiance.

Soarin is awesome. It is the best ride at WDW in my opinion. When I had my DS(11) on it, he asked if he could do it again and again. He wasn't the youngest one by far. It will be fine for your daughter. There are no jerks on it at all. Very smooth.

My 5 year old LOVED it and he's not a daredevil - usually he's very timid, so I was quite surprised he liked it as much as he did.

Even my DH who doesn't like heights did OK in it (he just looked down to see he really wasn't *that* far off the ground as opposed to the screen that makes you feel you are).

Someone posted another thread regarding the ride, and several folks said they did not feel secure on the ride. Is it the same sensation as being on an open ferris wheel while someone was swinging the car?

I didn't think it was and I absolutely *hate* ferris wheels because of the swinging (even without someone swinging it - just the natural swing sensation is enough to make me do a death grip on them and freak out). I practically have panic attacks on them, so now I just don't ride them period. Even the caged in ones, where you can't slip out, still freak me out. Soarin' didn't give me that same feeling at all! I had no problems on it and would easily go again. It did have a seatbelt (think of a lapbelt in a car - the same thing) and I don't know if that made me feel more secure or not but I didn't get the same type of sensation I get on a ferris wheel or I wouldn't be willing to ride it again.

We just got back Aug 3rd and I have a new favorite ride called Soarin'. Went on it 4 times......You have to try this, how does Disney o this???? Pure magic.

I did need a couple of seconds to get used to the ride the first time but after that, everything was fine. Even my daughter who hates heights went on it 4 times also.

IT's a must do everytime from now on!
