Is SOARIN gone?

my husband thinks they should make several movies, so that each time you ride it, you can soar over different places. I think this would be awesome, but probably never going to happen.

That would be awesome!!

I can't see Disney giving Soarin' the axe anytime soon. It's such an incredibly popular attraction. I did the college program in '05 and in the time I was there I never saw Soarin' NOT crowded. Fastpasses for it go pretty quickly, especially during peak times. It's understandable, Soarin' is a really cool attraction :)

They will rehab it with a different film someday. What I'd love to see is Soarin Around the World, featuring clips from the countries of Epcot.

Now THAT is a great idea!

We were talking about what new movie they could do and while Florida is obvious, it doesn't have near the area to cover that California does. I mean, the ocean, the everglades, Miami Beach, and not TOO much else. However, the countries of World Showcase would be awesome! Also a great tie in. :)

Soarin... is my little 4 yr olds fav! She doesn't like many thrill rides at all.. so I know this isn't a thrill ride.. but its a huge step for my little girl! We love to ride it as a family!!!

I always thought it would be a great idea to film several different films, then give the ride patrons a keypad to vote on the one they want. The majority would win. So you could ride it several times and have a different experience each time.

Soarin...leaving?
:lmao:
Sorry, that was rude. Coffee didn't kick in yet :coffee: ...

This ride is still considered fairly new, always packed and a family favorite. Thrill ride? Well, not if you're into coasters, but if Spaceship Earth is usually your 'thrill' then Soarin' will surely cause an increased heartrate, lol.

The movie is getting a little worn in spots, lines across the film, etc. but you have to expect that with film. Deterioration is an inevitable fact when you roll it that many times a day but it didn't affect our ride in the least! They are upgrading the website so the page may be temporarily inaccessible for maintenance but I'm sure the ride is here to stay for QUITE some time.

Have fun!

Soarin was a gift from DL. It isn't going anywhere for a longgggggggggggggg time.

I get a kick out of the notion of gift or on loan. It is a new permanent attraction in Epcot. It is still in California, they didn't pack up the building and ship it to Florida. It was popular out there and they thought it would be a natural addition to the Land. They were right. In California they call it Soarin' over California, in Florida they just call it Soarin'. That would tell me that they are indeed planning to change the film at some date and not branding it makes it possible to include whatever works. It could be Florida or the US or the World. Any will work.

In California it is located in the California Adventure Park. In Epcot the sky is the limit. As long as there are 2 hour wait times you can bet that it's not going anyplace. They thought that Mission Space was going to be the big draw at Epcot...as it turns out it was something much tamer. That should tell Disney that Thrill is not necessarily the end all of attractions.

Sorin is definitly still there (just came back from there) but get a fastpass - the wait is enormous, and it's not a fast moving line.

I like to think of it as a gift because of the 50th anniv. celebration. Disney called it a gift BTW. They didn't have to bring it to Epcot. They could have built it at another of the Disney parks. It's nice that they "shared" attractions from around the world of Disney parks.

OK, if you feel good about thinking of it as a gift, by all means do that. I am not sure how Disney gives itself a gift though. It was a popular attraction in Ca. and a cheap way to have a new attraction at WDW. No new technology, just build a building and duplicate what you already have. Heck, they didn't even use a new film.

Don't get me wrong...I'm glad they did. I have never seen it at WDW even though I live on the East Coast. I saw it in California where they had single rider lines and I was able to get on multiple times in just minutes. Last year when I went to Epcot, I got a Fastpass first thing in the morning and it was for a ride at 6 PM. I never got to it because my body gave out before my spirit.

The purpose of my post was to assure everyone that it isn't on wheels and just because they used the 50th as an excuse to put it in place, it would have gone there even without a celebration. Soarin' will be there as long as people still want to see it. No Problem!

We love Soarin- we wish it were less popular so we could go on more than once per visit. Test Track and Soarin are both so popular that you have to plan your Epcot day around getting on those rides. Start your day before 11am and use fast pass right away.

Have not made it onto Soarin' yet due to the crowds  but I will say as a Disney neophyte -- the PR about Happiest Celebration on Earth made it seem like certain "attractions" were on loan. I'm sure many people got that idea! I kept thinking to myself "Wouldn't that be expensive to install for one celebration?" So I was a little fooled too! :rotfl2: Can't wait until I can attempt to see it again!
