Hi all, so we will be arriving in Disney on August 9th :cool1: We are staying at CBR. Our flight lands at 3:30pm so I am figuring we will be at the resort by 5/5:30ish. I made an ADR at Shutter's for that night since we will be tired and want to hang around the hotel. My problem is that I have heard Shutter's is awful. Will we be better off going to a restaurant in DTD? Which one would you recommend? (We are on the DDP). Will we even have time to catch a bus and get to DTD by 7/7:30ish? I don't want us eating too late.

We stayed at CBR Dec 2009 & ate at Shutters because it was there. We did not care for it at all, if it wasn't for the fact we were on the free DDP it would have been a waste of money. The food court is good though for QS.

Our Ratings of Shutters:
. . . food price value: D
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: D
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: C
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: B
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: The eatery is simply not anything special, It has an array
of "Caribbean Inspired" food, but only average or below average on the
quality scale. If you are really hungry and do not want to go off the
resort site, it is OK. However, doing it once per vacation is probably
overload. We thought it highly overpriced for the quality and quantity
of food - just could not understand tuna for $23 or a small streak for
$28. For the money and quality, I'd recommend the food court - turkey,
pork at reasonable Disney prices.

We went there late-ish on our arrival night.

Once we got our correct food, it was perfectly fine.

The service, however, was annoying. The server *seemed* attentive, but was not. My order went fine. But they brought DH a drink he didn't order (he ordered a smoothie and they brought lemonade? or vice versa?) and it took ages to find her again to get the right drink. Then they brought DS's food, and it was a *chicken* and cheese kid's pizza. OK, first, NOT what we ordered, and second...they don't even have that on the menu! So somewhere out there there was a kid with a plain cheese pizza missing his special-ordered chicken.

We didn't see the server for WAY too long, and finally just got any random server to help us. Thankfully DS likes carrots and celery b/c that tided him over while they made the new pizza while we ate our perfectly fine food.

Up-side, we discovered that he likes carrots and celery far more when dipped in mustard! Down-side, the meal took WAY too long for tired travelers.

It was horrendous..We ate there before it became Shutters and after. Both times the food was barely edible and the service abysmal. The food court is FAR BETTER.

It's fine - we have been several times and it is ok for a night "in" when we are staying at CBR. The food is average sit-down restuarant quality (think Chilli's or Applebees), but the service has usually been very efficient and friendly.

I probably won't be back, but I didn't think it was awful by any means...

My mom got some dish with steak, which she thought was good (granted, she rarely complains about her food), while I got some "Caribbean" pasta dish or something. I personally didn't care for the sauce on the pasta, but I didn't think it was terrible - just not my taste.

I will say that the service we received was by far the best we had the entire trip. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Like you, I am arriving around 5:00pm on Aug 19. I have an ADR for Shutters. Not really excited about it, but I am on a mission to eat at every TS restaurant on property. Sometimes you just have to take a hit!

It wasn't anything amazing or special. It was food and after a long hot day in the parks it works. Not something that I would make an ADR for and plan but if something comes up and you end up at the resort for a night it's better then nothing. Or you could just eat food court food depending on your mood.

I would save my TS and eat in the food court. It was just awful. I had an ADR and I waited over an hour for a table and there were many empty tables, you can see them from the food court area. The service was awful and the food terrible.

I'm guessing you don't want to go into a park and use tickets...downtown disney could be doable if you actually arrive by 5/5:30...but I'm wondering if that is your estimate before or after you check in/upack etc.

You could also consider taking the bus from CBR to DHS and then the boat to the boardwalk area...you would have access to TS choices at any of the EPCOT hotels and the boardwalk area. Then you can take the boat back to DHS and then the bus to CBR. Just check the closing time of DHS, so the boats will be running.

We have taken a cab back from the boardwalk area to CBR many times. It's very close and not that expensive either.

I'm not just saying it...I hated Shutters! The foodcourt at CBR is nice.

Enjoy your trip!

It was awful. Gross food, I remember getting some pasta dish that tasted and looked like noodles with ketchup. YUCK!

I've only eaten there once about two years ago and it was horrible. I was one of maybe five tables in the whole restaurant that had anybody sitting at them. It still took forever for the waiter to take my order and get me my meal, then to get my ticket. I never did get a refill on my drink, despite asking not only my waiter, but another waiter that happened to be walking by. I was getting so frustrated. None of the waiters were busy, just standing around talking, instead of checking on customers. The food when I finally got it wasn't even hot, just barely lukewarm. The steak was tough and grisly. I think something I had was spoilt. I usually have a stomach of iron, but I was sick and throwing up later that night and most of the next day. I felt fine before eating at Shutters.
