Is She Ready To Be A Princess? Completed 10/12

I love the Snow White dress! I am all about comfortable princess dresses! The ones at Disney but they seem so hit and itchy! What a special meeting with Snow White!
Your morning sounds a lot like one of our mornings. I was shocked how much we got done in the big top area so quickly! My DD neve wanted to get off Dumbo or the goofy coaster either!

We skipped the autograph book for the exact same reason you all did!

Can't wait to hear more!

What a great update and an amazing experience getting to meet Snow White. And was very nice of you to send the note praising the performance of that CM. Also, only in Disney is a text "In the Castle - I'll explain later" not our of the ordinary!

Good tip about watching the videos of character meets. We wound up just showing our DD youtube videos of character meets and that seemed to do the trick. The only character she wasn't super into meeting was Pluto. She explained to me it was because on the TV Pluto walks on all fours like a regular dog, but when you meet him his is standing up and that kinda freaked her out. Never thought about it but it kinda makes sense.

Joining in! Followed you over from my TR - so glad I did! I am loving your report. The magical moment with Snow White was just priceless - I love that Disney CMs are able to make these incredible moments for our children. It is just beyond special. :lovestruc

Alright, you got me!!!! I am hooked now :) I seen a TR about princesses and was hooked immediately. Loving this trip report and the adorable pictures of your daughter :) We too are staying, planning at least, at POR in May. We actually have two princesses and one prince, so I'm looking for all the "mom" tips I can get :)

Your daughter is so adorable. Can't wait to read more about your trip. :)

What a great TR, can't wait to follow along.
I love the mom tips you provide. This will be our family's first Disney vacation, and the tips you provide are invaluable!:cheer2:

After naptime we got cleaned up for our anniversary dinner at 'Ohana. We had never been there before so we were looking forward to this. We caught the bus to the Magic Kingdom at the South Depot and soon DD was taking her first ride on the monorail.

We got to the Polynesian resort with plenty of time to spare before our 6:25 ADR so we walked around the main building for a while.

We were seated right on time near a window and our waiter offered to bring DD some macaroni and cheese along with the other food. DH and I had iced tea to drink. First we tried the yummy bread.

Then we had salad, which DD wanted to try.

They also gave us leis to wear.

Next they brought noodles which I called lo mein noodles, and broccoli. These were both delicious and DD discovered she loved lo mein noodles. Or as she still calls them, main noodles.

As you can see, she had a lot of fun with the lei too. ;)

There was also a tray of pot stickers and wings, which were fabulous. I could have eaten way more but I knew I should pace myself before the parade of meat started. I could not believe the huge skewers of meat and it just kept coming: chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp.

Here you can see the huge bowl of macaroni and cheese they brought for DD. She ate quite a bit of this:

Because it was our anniversary, with dessert they brought us cupcakes.

Along with the usual bread pudding and ice cream, and pitcher of yummy caramel sauce.

For a kid who ate for free, DD REALLY put away the food at this meal!

After dinner we had thought about going back to the MK, but we were too full and tired so we decided to just go back to the resort and call it an early night. We really enjoyed 'Ohana and would definitely go back there again. My DH especially raved about it and he also really loved the atmosphere at the Polynesian. He thanked me for planning this for our anniversary dinner. :)

Back at POR, it was a beautiful night.

It was now time for a discussion. We originally planned to go to Animal Kingdom the following day, Thursday. I suggested that we skip it and go to the Magic Kingdom again instead. Having been there in August before, I find Animal Kingdom to be unbearably hot, without a lot of air conditioned rides or places to cool off. DD had already been to two zoos this summer, and there were still things we wanted to do at the Magic Kingdom. Plus, Thursday was early extra magic hours at the MK and we could take advantage of that. DH agreed and MK it was!

your pictures with snow white are so sweet! snow white AND going inside the castle AND a magic elevator ride?!? well, there's a little pixie dust to start your day! :goodvibes:

I know, I couldn't believe it!

We haven't tried the barnstormer yet, but I hear you about riding rollercoasters. I took one of the boys I nanny and a friend of his on an amusement park road trip before school started. After a week of rollercoasters, i can honestly say I've never been so bruised and sore in my life! I remember my dad riding with me when I was young and now I understand why he was so grumpy at the end of the day!

It was a pretty smooth ride so I didn't feel beat up after, but while it was going up and down my stomach was not happy! lol

She looks gorgeous in the dresses from the Disney Store, but they leave a trail of glitter everywhere and make such a mess!

I want them to be able to continue to accommodate guests that way so that's why I thought it was so important to give some positive feedback.

I know the feeling, I read every "princess" report I could find before our trip!

Thanks. :)

I'm trying to share this stuff before I forget it!

I worried quite a bit before the trip about how to keep a 2 year old safe in the parks. Luckily DD is pretty well behaved and not the type to run away from us. She happily holds my hand when we are walking and still cooperates with riding in the stroller. I told her that if she got in the stroller any time I told her, I wouldn't buckle her in. There were a few times I had to cajole her, but the stroller definitely helped with keeping her contained so I knew where she was.

Before the trip I ordered these wristbands for her:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/1528482...tbands-lil-love-bug?ref=listing-shop-header-4

I wrote my cell phone number on these with a Sharpie and she wore one to the parks each day. I read a lot of reviews on Safety Tats and I was afraid it would bother her to have that stuck to her skin, so I went with these instead. They aren't water proof but they served the purpose for what we needed.

Love your pictures from 'Ohana!! Can't wait until we have breakfast there! Great idea for your anniversary (happy anniversary!)

Can I ask what camera lens you used for your trip? I also want to only keep one lens without worrying about changing. However I want a lens with enough zoom and also works well on the low light indoor rides. I have a Nikon D80.

Thanks in advance!

Very nice update! It looks like y'all had a great time at 'Ohana! :woohoo:

My DD loved the noodles too! 'Ohana is the best, looks like you had a great time.

Your DD is just cute as a button! I love the monorail picture.

We tried to get to the MK early on Thursday morning for extra magic hours. We didn't do too badly -- I remember we were going through bag check as the opening show was going on. DD was not happy that she couldn't see it!

On this day I finally remembered to have DD wear her First Visit button that they gave her when we checked in. She didn't like it though and took it off as soon as I let her.

Mom's Memo: DD has a little stuffed dog named Violet that she takes everywhere with her. She would be devastated if we lost her. When we checked in one of the CM's saw it and warned us not to leave it in the bed in the morning so it didn't get scooped up with the bedding by housekeeping. DD didn't like it, but I made her leave Violet on a high shelf in the room every time we left the room. Well, by mid week as she got more and more tired she started fussing about this, and as a substitute I let her take a little blanket with her. So that's why she has a blanket with her in the 90 degree heat in Florida in August. lol

Once inside the park I had hoped to get another photopass photo with the castle while Main Street was not too crowded. Unfortunately there was only ONE PP photographer on Main Street and he had a line. So, we headed back to that perfect spot by the Crystal Palace and asked someone to take a picture for us.

Next we made a beeline for Enchanted Tales with Belle. If I remember correctly the sign said it was a 30 minute wait, but I think our actual wait was more like 15 or 20 minutes. The queue is nice and we enjoyed the view of Beast's Castle.

DD kept asking me if the Beast would be in Belle's Cottage and I assured her he would not. We didn't get much time to look around in Belle's Cottage because the line moved quickly. When they chose people for parts in the show I didn't encourage it for DD because I felt she was too young to follow directions. Well, this was a bit of a mistake maybe because she wanted to hold one of the props once she saw people using them.

The room where the show takes place is lovely and the show was very cute.

Unfortunately, DD cried at the end because she wanted to meet Belle. It was not easy to explain to her why she couldn't, and assurances that we would meet Belle at dinner that night didn't help, but luckily DD recovers from disappointment quickly, especially when we told her we were going on the Little Mermaid ride.

This time around I managed to take a few more pictures during the ride.

After that DD wanted to ride Dumbo again, so DH took her on. There was no line. I have to say again how pleasant this area of the park is. I was quite content waiting for them while they rode and the area had some shade and was breezy and cool.

After this DD and DH played in the water area a bit. This is so cute and wonderful on a warm day!

After that DH took her on Goofy's Barnstormer again. My memory's a little fuzzy here on what we did next, but I know we rode Winnie the Pooh again, and stood in a fairly long line for it, which irked me but it was what DD wanted!

The next thing I remember is going over to Frontierland to meet Jessie and Woody. By this time Frontierland was wall to wall people and the sun was burning hot. Standing in line was miserable, but it was worth it because DD really loves Jessie and we are big Toy Story fans in general.

While we were waiting Jessie and Woody had to go for a break to "feed Bullseye." Well after that DD was obsessed with wanting to see Bullseye, and didn't understand why we couldn't go in the barn to see him!

After this DD spent at least 15 minutes playing in the Laughing Place area. DH and I were tired and hot and happy to just let her play.

We planned to leave the park at that point, but somehow wound up riding Pirates again. We were starving by the time we got off the ride, so it was time to cash in some snack credits.

I love that picture. What can be better than a Mickey bar and popcorn at the same time? :lmao:

We went back to POR and had lunch in the food court. DD had a very nice mac and cheese kids' meal there. It came with grapes and apple slices and a little bottle of water.

DH and I both did create your own salads which were huge and very good.

Then it was nap time again. Up next: dinner with the princesses!

We recently celebrated DD's 3rd birthday and I thought some of you would enjoy seeing a few pictures --- and probably appreciate some of the details more than the people who were there! We had a Tangled theme. Here's the picture I took for DD's invitations:

And DH was a good sport, dressing up as well:

Also, DH had another MRI and it shows his tumor is still shrinking!!

I would like to try breakfast there too. We love Lilo and Stitch. Thanks!

There are a few scattered in from my phone and PP, but mostly I used my Canon Rebel T3 with the kit lens that came with it, I think it's 18-55mm. I thought it worked fine and with a high ISO on manual I was able to get good photos on the dark rides too. I was often rushed with a wiggly 2 year old and had to use auto a lot but overall I'm pleased with my photos. I only brought the one lens.

Very nice update! It looks like y'all had a great time at 'Ohana! :woohoo:

We loved 'Ohana. It's nice when you want to relax and not be rushed. We will definitely go back there.

My DD loved the noodles too! 'Ohana is the best, looks like you had a great time.

Thanks. We had fun!

First-I'm so glad your DHs MRI showed good things!! That is wonderful!

Second--smoldering meatballs?!? LOVE IT! And the invite picture is gorgeous! Looks like it was a great day!

Good idea putting any special toys in a safe place. Last time we went, our youngest took her bearbear and we ended up losing it in the dump shop after PoC. When we noticed, DH went running back to look for it. Thank goodness it was Disney and pixie dust was floating around because someone had just turned it in. We would have had a miserable rest of the trip without it!

Love the family pic in front of the castle!

I figured only my DIS friends would truly appreciate the smoldering meatballs. :lmao:

Oh, we had a near miss with Violet. Stay tuned. :)

That's great news about your husband!

That family photo in front of the castle is awesome! Random people can take really nice pics.

Love the party theme. The invitation photo is gorgeous!

Thanks so much! I picked a guy who was taking pictures of his family with his own DSLR. He was a safe bet. lol
