Is Sept 12-17 really as slow as I am hoping?

We have a large family trip planned (6 families / 26 people) for Sept. Can I anticipate the crowds to be at their lowest at this time? Also, is the weather in CA hot still in Sept?

I know this is the "off season" so will fireworks not be happening durning the week? Will we get to see that water show in DCA? Does the park close early?

Is there a web site that will tell me what attractions will be open and what shows will be going?

Any help would be appreciaited.

Thanks in Advance

Yes it's pretty slow. How slow will depend on when the Halloween season starts. In 2009 it started the last Friday in September, but in 2010 it started 9/17.

Park Hours: During the week 10-8, longer on Friday-Sunday(8 or 9 am to 11pm or 12am)

Fireworks & Fantasmic!: Friday-Sunday only

WOC: Last year they did it nightly since it was so new, not sure if they'll continue that this fall or not.

What will be closed: Haunted Mansion to add the Halloween overlay (closes from Labor Day until start of Halloween season) and Space Mountain for Holiday overlay (only for a couple of days just prior to Halloween season). September is a big refurb month, so others may be closed but no way to know what exactly at this point. MousePlanet's weekly update includes upcoming refurbs prior to postings on the Disney website and they are very reliable. I'd check there around July.

Weather is still warm (80s-90s). We wore shorts and tank tops the whole trip. You'll want to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt for early mornings or evenings just in case, maybe a pair of jeans (I don't remembe if we actually wore them though). Definitely swimming weather.

It is the Best time of the year to go. All families are back to their normal school schedule. We went to Disneyworld during that time and it was just like Disneyland. Empty!

I just booked the HOJO kids suite for September 14-19th so we'll be there at the same time! I am looking forward to having warm weather. Previous trips have been spring break time and xmas time. Haven't work shorts at DL since I was a teenager!

I wouldn't expect much specific information about shows until closer to the actual dates. Without an entire weekend in your trip, you might miss a few things. But hopefully they will have some special shows on the weeknights for you!

We went in SEPT and it was AWESOME! Warm weather, we even had a beach day, totally sunburned. Low crowds. We were there over the transition, so we got a few days of summer and a few days of fall/halloween. We usually go in Jan-Mar off season... but this may be our new favorite time!
