Is Sea World Worth It?

Perhaps 5-7 dollars to feed animals sounds expensive; but the expirence you are getting is priceless. Where else do you get to feed and touch dolphins? Feed and interact with Seals/Sealions. They offer 1 hour close up tours for each of thoes animals...and thoes run 40-50 bucks per person. It costs 150 bucks to swim with dolphins...so 7 bucks kind of sounds like a deal to me...
I agree, the dolphin show was the highlight of our grandchildren's trip, and then feeding the dolphins made it more special. Well worth the extra $14 for them to be up close to the dolphins.

I read all the positives about Sea World here in the forum, and I was excited to go there. We visited this past Thursday, and I was disappointed. Yes, you could feed dolphins and sea lions, but it was 5-7 dollars a person to do so. We really did enjoy seeing the animal exhibits and shows, but not enough to ever return. My DS (13) loved both Krakken and Manta, but we all thought Atlantis was only "eh".

Atlantis really was boring. I don't even bother going on it, unless I'm with some one who wants to try it for the first time. I do try to warn them.

But it really is a different kind of atmosphere. I've never paid to feed any animals, or for any of the tours, but I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Of course visiting there ALL the time, I learned a few tricks on how to do things without paying. Like during the winter when they're closing the dolphin feeding area, about a 1/2hr later, the trainers will sometimes feed the dolphins from the viewing side of the pool. When they do this, they have them do a few commands for the crowd. One of them is usually getting them to lay up on the wall ledge so EVERY ONE can touch a dolphin. It's really cool to see 10-20 dolphins all lay up on the side wall. But I only saw them do it a few times in the many many times I've been there.
My picture in the sig, I spent many many afternoons listening to P-talks to get that chance. I actually had a chance once, but I got the answer wrong. You better believe I paid closer attention after that.

But I just love being there. I love standing in the Manta aquarium staring up at the sting rays, or at the lagoon petting them. Talking with the educators and trainers is a lot of fun. It really is a big learning experience, rather than just doing.

We are going on a trip to Orlando in December and have 4 days at Disney and 1 day at Sea World. Eventhough we are going for free (military), I have been before and I love it! I think it is a welcomed change from the hustle and bustle of Disney and it is a great light day for my girls. That is our first stop on our Orlando trip. :)

Havent been to sea world for a few years now as I dont like this park, so much so that none of my kids every ask to go when we are visiting USA.

We love Sea World and all the rides. Manta is a fairly new roller coaster, Kraken is a smooth looped roller coaster and Atlantis is a water ride - FUN. Food is reasonable and very good at the Hospitality Center - particularly the turkey sandwich and the beef stew. We started going when our girls were 12 and 13 - they are now 25 and 26 and we STILL love it! And my new son-in-law has become a lover of everything SW too. Go - try - I think you'll like it.

We go to SeaWorld as often as we can when we are in Orlando and love it, it never gets old. I would highly recommend this for a day. And as someone else said, $5 - $7 isn't really high when you consider you are touching, interacting & feeding a dolphin - I paid more than that for 2 butter beers!!!! Its a great place to visit.
