Is Sea World Worth it?

Its about 10 to 15 minutes from Disney to me its worth going they have some amazing shows and good rides, and the Shamu Rocks evening show is Spectacular.

It is totally worth it!
We always spend 2 days there each trip to WDW. The shows are incredible!

I loved SeaWorld Orlando! Its great for the kids and you. The shows esp. the Shamu show is awesome. The pirate show (walrus and sea otter) show is great too. Their grounds are beautiful and the kid focused rides were perfect. Don't miss it.

The vibe is different, more relaxing I think.

Another vote for Seaworld as it somehow seems less hectic that the other theme parks. You can easily spend 2 days here - Shamu and the Clyde and Seamore sealion show are a must, especially if you are going with children.

I think it depends on the time of year that you go. If you plan on going on a holiday weekend, I say no. We went last Memorial weekend and wasted about 3 hours just saving seats for shows. After all that, we only visited about 3 other exhibits. Lines for counter service dining were at least 30 minutes around 3 pm (as was the line for free beer). But if you go during a lower attendance period, it is definitely worth it! It is a beautiful park and there is so much to see.

We went one day on our last Dis vacation and we all loved it. This time around I'm hoping for warm enough weather that we can go to Aquatica... but we will do Seaworld if it's not warm enough. My son's favorite ride was at Seaworld and I personally think their coaster is 100% better than RNR. I vote a big Yes!!

It is really worth the traveltime, money and everything. Seaworld is a great park and soooo different to WDW.
We are staying next to Seaworld the first week of our next trip before we move out to WDW...

I would have answered "yes" without a second thought, but DS9 came to me yesterday and asked if we can skip Seaworld next time we go to Orlando. :confused3 Even though both my kids loved it, I guess he's more interested in trying a water park next time. I guess it all depends on the likes/dislikes of the people in your party, and their ages. As far as how difficult it is to get from WDW to SW, that's really not a deal breaker as far as we're concerned. 15 minutes on a Mears shuttle ($16 pp roundtrip). Very easy. Only you can say if it's worth it for your party for this trip. HTH

My crew loves SW. We don't go each and every trip, but still very frequently. My dds are 16 and 20, to both my DH and me, anywhere that we can go as a family and enjoy each other is worth the $$$. I know that sounds cheesy, but too often as the kids grow up they also grow apart.:goodvibes

We went last time that we went to DW and it was great. The shows were very fun and our DD's loved them. For me one of my greatest memories of the entire trip was when I went in the tunnel for the dolphins and watched them swim. I stood there for a good 20 minutes and I only left because my wife and kids made me, it was just something else to watch them swim by.
My only complaint was that there was not enough shade. The day that we went it was about 100 degees and we were so hot it was crazy.

We are thinking of going during our WDW trip in the last week of August. |have tentatively scheduled SW for the Monday, Aug 25. We will be staying at Orange Lake near 192 and 429. How will the traffic be on Monday morning to try to get to park for ~8:30am? Or should we wait and go late afternoon and stay into evening? Also assuming it will be very hot/humid, so wondering if the show seating has overhangs that are shaded? Can I also assume this is a slower time so we shouldn't have to worry about getting to shows too early for a seat? Thanks, Jo

OK-I am going to upset many people, but we did not care for Sea World.

My hubby and Daughter saw it in 2002 after they had went to discovery cove, cruised through in a few hours and thought it was all right. They loved Discovery Cove.

This last trip, which we just came back yesterday, I thought all of us should go, since I had never been and my son had never been. We enjoy zoos, animal kingdom, and love the Shedd's Aquarium in Chicago, so I thought this was finally something to add to our list. We were there on 8/7/08.

I bought the Aquatica/Sea World ticket and knew that we would ony be spending one day each. Aquatica was great, but Sea World is no Disney or Universal. It is not laid out very well, and there is no traffic control like at Disney/Universal. It was a super hot day, but water fountains were hard to find. The first show did me in. It was the whale dolphin show. We cooked in the hot metal bleachers. every guy was just soaked in his own sweat. There was no place too cool off except for a few indoor exhibits like the manatees and the penguins. The air conditioning in the shops was barely working and only a few cooling fans that mist you in the parks. drinks were more expensive than Disney ($2 for a 20 oz soda) or Universal ($2.75 20 OZ Soda) they were 2.99.

I think to enjoy Sea World you REALLY have to be into Aquatic Life. Worth $40 for something you can do in a few hours--no way.

My 11 year old son and 16 year old daughter agreed with me. They thought it was lame.

We are Florida residents, so we could go any time of year, but chose to go this past Saturday so we could see the night shows they have only in the summer. We have two kids, ages 5 and an almost 3 year old. The kids absolutely loved it!!! Now, don't get me wrong, it was HOT. Luckily it rained a few times which cooled things down a bit for a while. And the hard part about this park is walking back and forth across the park to see shows. But that was poor planning on our parts. The kids were fine, they were in strollers! We had not been in 5 years and had a blast. The shows were really great, especially Shamu rocks and the Clyde & Seymour night show was hilarious. Our kids have not stopped talking about Shamu and keep asking when we can go back. It was a great family bonding day. Usually we don;t stay at parks all day but we were there from 10am until closing. On the flip side of that, I don't see us doing Sea World more than once every other year, mostly because I can't watch the same shows over and over. But this was definitely a fun day had by our family and I am really happy we did it.

The star attractions at WDW were created by a bunch of supremely talented guys.

'Nuff said.

we love seaworld -- we i took my daughter in 98 she was 4 and got picked to be part of the dolphin show -- it was the highlight of our trip and the pictures are priceless

when we went in 2001 we had to leave early because the boyfriend got pooped on by a seagull

we are definately going on this trip and i cant wait

We went to WDW and SW for the first time in May and we liked SW but WDW is much better! My dd who is ten LOVES dolphins and so going to SW was a must and both girls had fun feeding the dolphins and seeing the shows which were great, I just wish they had more big rides cause they only have 2 and the lines were pretty bad.

I have only been to sea world 1 time a long time ago and my DFI has never been (not to disney either). We are going on our honeymoon. We found out through freinds that military personal can get in once a year free so we were excited to know we can add something else to the honeymoon list and it wont cost us except the taxi ride to get there! We are on a tight budget so this made my day!
