Is Sci-Fi Diner worth it?

I am planning my stuff way ahead so I am prepared when I can make my ADR's. I was interested in trying both Sci-Fi and 50's Prime Time when I come with my DD8. Because I didn't want to do 2 big meals in one day (we don't eat that much) I was thinking of going to Sci-Fi our first night in after spending some time at the pool. Than later do 50's Prime Time for lunch when we spend a day in DHS.

It sounds like DHS is not a fav and is pretty easy to get through and I am rethinking hitting that park twice. Instead I am thinking our first day, after we do some swimming, to either hit Epcot or DTD for dinner. We will be staying at the Beach Club so if we want burgers and shakes we can get them from Beaches and Cream (which is what we would probably order at Sci-Fi).

Is the atmosphere really worth making a special trip over there?

I don't care for the Sci-Fi and if you do dinner, they do not serve burgers and fries, so doing Beaches and Cream for burgers and fries would be a good call. 50's Prime food is really good IMO and atmosphere is fun too.

We had a great time at the Sci-Fi last year. Of all my ADR's that is the only one we are repeating this year. Then again, my son absolutely loves cars and he got a real kick out of the movies too.

Can you just go in and have milkshakes or dessert? I am thinking we could stop in for a snack and than do lunch or dinner at Prime Time.

We've always enjoyed the Sci-Fi, but it's not worth a special trip IMO.

Also, when we went to the 50's PTC for the first time, my sister was 9 at the time and had a really hard time with waitress picking on us for not eating our food. She was so upset about it she barely touched her food. Every time the waitress came over she tried to hide under the table. My parents tried to explain it was pretend, but she wasn't listening. Just in case you think your DD might be sensative to something like that, you might want to talk to her in advance.

Ok I sorted it out. We will do some type of early snack there...apps, ice cream than dinner at Prime Time. That way we won't have to stuff ourselves but we can check them both out.

Thanks for the responses. Crazy that planning meals takes this much thought. LOL

Oh yeah I have read that elsewhere. I will make sure to prep my DD ahead of time.

Yes, they do, serve Burgers and Fries at dinner... you just have to ask them. We get it everytime and we look forward to it, best burgers around. BTW, most restaurants will serve lunch items at dinner, you just have to ask. Sci-Fi is a great experience with kids. The atmosphere, movie reel, servers, burgers, shakes, etc. Try it!

My kids ADORED Sci-Fi! They already are talking about going back!

One thing to point out about the Sci Fi is that parties of 2 are frequently seated in the back seat of a car that already has a party of 4 sitting in the front 2 seats. I don't think it's as much fun for a young child if they don't get to sit in the front where they can get a good view of the screen. DH and I, as a party of 2, have never gotten the front seat of a car, we've only got the front when we've went as a party of 4 or 6.

hmm ok good to know. There may be more people going but as of now I am the only one who has a room booked. I'll make a request for a front seat when I make the ADR's if it is just the 2 of us.

IMO Sci-Fi is deffinately a must for a one time thing. And yes they do serve burgers and fries ... even at dinner...you have to ask though...as it's not on the menu. We are'nt huge fans of the food there though...other then for burgers. Atmosphere is really great though. :)
