Is Sci-Fi Dine In really that bad??? advice pleeeeze!

We always have so much fun here. We stick with the burgers and milkshakes though.....I just love the atmosphere. MIL had the ribs last week and said they were a little fatty, but she still enjoyed them.

They spike their milkshakes, the kids sit in the front of the car and have a perfectly acceptable kids meal while watching movies. The grownups sit in the back seat. The food doesn't wow, but the atmophere is one of Disney's best. Lunch is a better choice than dinner.

I was told that there are cars that seat 4 or 6. HTH!

Well...we'll be there on May 14th (extra evening hours). We're doing the fantasmic package at 3:30 (mama melrose). I think after the 9:00 fantasmic we'll stop in the Sci-Fi for shakes and stuff! From what I hear the kids will need to recover from fantasmic! I'm making my ADR now!

We had bad service but the food was good and my kids loved the place! Here is a link to my tr from our day at the sci fi. I have pics of our food in the link and of the place: Hey my ds9 followed the waitress around with the video camera for awhile (TG it wasn't our server) I have videos too but I am still afraid to watch those! :rotfl2: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=14777831&postcount=111

We loved it. I had to ask my dh if he thought the food was mediocre and he said his ribs were quite good. ??? We're definately going back so I think it's a matter of different tastes. Personally, I have heard people rave about Chef Mickeys, and we found the food "barely edible."

Thank goodness Disney has so many different places to eat. :)

This is one of our favorites. The food is ok, but the atmosphere is a lot of fun! Definitely worth at least one try. :thumbsup2

Sci Fi is one of my most favorite places to eat at WDW. IMO its a great burger and fries with a shake place. We went with a party of 14 and nobody complained about the food. We went for lunch which I have heard is better than dinner. So here's my plan for a perfect day.
Lunch at Sci Fi lazy boat ride to epcot - eat dinner at Le Cellier stroll to Norway or France for dessert. Watch Illuminations. Go back to resort and sleep. Get up and do it all again with a different restaurant and a different park. Repeat until money runs out.

Ribs??? Does Sci Fi even have those??? :)

Dh got a burger...not that it matters but some of you experts may have noticed.

Yes, they do have ribs, and they were just fine. All in all, a fun destination - - try it at least once.

I love Sci-FI. The atmosphere is fun and the onion rings great. I will be eating there again.

not bad just not great food! We go there when we have knew people with us and we bring them there for the atmosphere, not the food. It wont knock your socks off but it will satisfy your hunger.

I had the worst burger of my entire life at the Sci-Fi. The bun was so dry it was literally crumbling off and falling into the plate as I attempted to raise the burger to my mouth. The burger itself was dry and tastless. And it was cold (which is the waitress' fault, not the cook's, I know.) Waited 40 minutes after ordering for it to arrive, too. Ug. Bad, bad visit.

Another time I had an equally bad burger, but the bun didn't crunch off.

We usually get dessert or an order of fries or something when we go.

BUT, the experience is great. Very, very cool.

We enjoyed a lunch at Sci-Fi on our last trip in April 2005. Our DS loved the cars and the movie clips. We are planning on another lunch there for our trip in June. Plus The diner is dark so it would be a good place to get out of the hot sun:thumbsup2

I do not go with what any guide book says about any eatery.
Sci Fi is a must do every year for our family. Our kids love it...and so do we. I will tell you that in June we were not really overly happy with it but are going back this March. We do it for Lunch and pay oop for it.

Excellent place to just grab a snack or dessert tho...you will still get the experience but without all the cost!
