Is Rock 'N' Roller Coaster Extremely Rough?

After that INSANE launch, it's one of the smoothest rides I've ever been on. It's awesome. I can't wait until our next trip because my kiddo is finally tall enough to ride it. He's going to LOVE it.

I always have heard the front is smoother on roller coasters but I suppose I'll have to try your strategy.:goodvibes

Give it try! I could be crazy, but I swear it felt smoother. I do think this coaster is smooth (compared to others I have rode), but I think after riding it so much, I came to the conclusion the middle was so much more smooth, the back jerked me around more, the front as well. It was not front row, it was just towards the front. I have not been in front row this year.

Also-- When you discover that you love it, the singles line can't be beat for the quickest trip back on (FP is usually sold out early in the day).

Man, do I wish I was there right now!!!

Single Riders Line is my favorite! We try to ride RNR at least 10 times each trip, and Single Riders is the only way to do it. It usually only takes about 10 minutes and its right back to the line! My fiance and I ended up in the same limo almost every time and even with each other in the same row 3 or 4 times.

It largely depends on the coaster. Many newer coasters are very smooth no matter where you sit. In contrast, on older rides the front car often bounces left and right as it 'searches' for the next turn. Riders of the Matterhorn will understand what I mean.

It's very tame. I forget how tame it is every year when I ride it. I get off the ride wondering where it was. Sadly it can't be rehabed to change the ride. I only visit it once a year.

One of the best tips I learned here is to keep your head back. And my personal biggest tip is to then, RELAX. Don't clench up, the ride will hold you. And just go with it! Its a total blast if you just relax!!:thumbsup2

Personally, I go on all of the rides at Six Flags and am fine. This ride however gave me a headache. My head was bouncing back and forth from side to side, banging on the headrest and it hurt. I also had little stud earrings in and the backs of them felt like they were digging into my head :sad2: if you are prone to headaches (which I am not- it went away within a half hour) id stay away from this ride.

RnRC is a great ride- I think quite smooth. I am not much of a coaster fan and I can never pass up RnRC. Now SpaceM that is a rough ride!

Try RnRC and see for yourself. Try for a seat forward, we think the back of the 'limo' is a bit rougher.

WOW..I'm amazed anyone thinks this is a rough ride. Space Mountain is definitely the jerkiest roller coaster at Disney World. I thought RnRc was very smooth..one of the smoothest coasters I've been on. The launch takes my breath away..but after that, it's very easy to enjoy!

ETA: We were in the very front and thought it was smooth.

The closer to the front, the smoother the ride!~

I agree about space mountain, has become WAY rough over the years~ Come on Rehab!!!

I am not a roller coaster person, but I figured at WDW I have to ride everything. My first rollercoaster there was Space Mountain. Way too rough, jerky and just plain unpleasent. My husband and I rode RNRRC, and it became our favorite ride. I thought it was smooth as silk. But I guess after Space Mountain, anything would feel smooth.
Try it, I think you will be pleased.

I know this ride goes quite fast (57 MPH I think is the peak) but I was wondering how smooth it is. Are you thrown about in your seat alot or do you pretty much stay in one place? And does it induce motion sickness? I'm hoping to ride on my Christmas trip (I adore Aerosmith, I hate to pass it up) but I'm just slightly anxious still.

I get motion sickness and this ride was horrible for me. I wouldn't ride it if you tend to get sick one rides.....this one will definately get to you!!

anyone familiar with Kings Island who can compare the jerkiness? Beast? Vortex?

i have coveted riding this and chicken out, i'll be there solo next week. i'm glad to see this asked as i wonder myself...

It's not bad at all,

If you really can't stand roller coasters, I would suggest to sit in the very back (Just ask the CM, they won't mind. You'll just have to sit out until it's your turn). It is somewhat jerky though back there, but you don't feel the shot as bad (I've ridden it so much, I might just have gotten used to it).

I disagree about placing yourself in the far back of the train if you aren't a coaster-nut on this one. The ride from the rear of the train can be quite jarring and downright unpleasant on a couple of turns. For the smoothest ride, sit at least in the middle of the train but closer toward the front. If you are at all prone to motion sickness, the "launch" may get to you- but is totally worth it. Just keep your head back, do the count-down along with the spiel, take a deep breath at "1," and WOOHOO!!! :woohoo:

The feel of the coaster is easily comparable to Mummy's Revenge at USO or BTMRR (but with inversions.)

And don't forget, while standing in queue, recite the mantra "If this little 5 year-old holding onto her Pal Mickey can handle this, then so can I." :thumbsup2

I HATE "wild mouse" style roller coasters.. So I was leary about going on RnRC.

However, this ride is very smooth , and you are wedged into the seat with a harness so you don't get that "butt flying out of the ride" feeling.

It doesn't come close to comparing to either of these coasters. Beast and Vortex used to rank (back in the day) in the top 10 coasters in the world for coaster enthusiasts... you know, individuals who love the rough-stuff, scream with glee at the heights, and who cherish a Venkoma hangover. I should know, I am one :thumbsup2 I broke my big left toe on Vortex due to kicking and screaming my way through the ride- I think that was 15 years ago! On rnr- you're likely only to break a smile ;)

On my first ride my DD told me to keep my head back when starting, well I didn't keep it back the whole ride and I hit the side of my head so hard on the shoulder gaurd that my earing back stuck in my head!!!!

The second time I tried to keep my head from jerking all over and never did enjoy the ride!

I ride it for my DD only and I like the first part but the rest just isn't fun!

We were in the front the first ride and the second car the next time.

You should always try a ride once to see for your self.

Have a magical time!
