Is Rainforest Cafe THAT bad?

I would love to get Tusker House or Yak and Yeti. Not having luck with either, that's why I'm getting opinions on RFC.

If you have the Landry card you don't need an ADR for Yak and Yeti. You just show them the card at whatever time you arrive and you get priority seating. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work.

I like the poster who said something about the food was what he expected, if your not expecting California Grill you maybe be pleasantly surprised. I didn't realize RC had such negative reviews. I've been there many, many times, but I'm a creature of habit, I stick to the nachos (which are huge, easily shareable, cheep and delish) or the sampler, which has yummy chicken tenders (sampler is also very shareable and relatively inexpensive). Stick with something simple, salads are good and some of the fish is decent, nachos or a sampler. I prefer TRex or Yak & Yeti but RC isn't "that bad" IMO.

We go to RC on pretty much every trip on our AK day, because we let our 11 y/o son pick one restaurant per trip, and he always picks RC.

It's fine. Like pp's have said, if you go there expecting fine dining, you'll be disappointed. If you go there expecting good, not great food along the lines of national chains like TGIFriday's, Ruby Tuesdays, etc...you'll be just fine. They have a large menu and it's pretty easy to find something everyone will like.

We went to the one at DS last year. We both thought it was great! I think I had a spicy pasta dish. I know the kids were happy with all of the kiddie food options too.

If you go in knowing it's a chain and not expecting award winning chef food, you'll be fine. With a group of young adults, I think it's a good option with nachos, burgers, etc. Reviews are just opinions. I find people are more willing to write something bad than to take the time when something is good.

We have eaten at the AK one twice and thought it was pretty good. Last time I had a turkey wrap and DH had a burger and both were excellent.

I've always enjoyed Rainforest. A little bit on the expensive side, but almost everything at WDW is anyway.

As others have mentioned, you will have far better success calling Rainforest directly, rather than using Disney Dining. I don't think they release many of their tables to Disney. This also seems to be true for the other Landry eateries in WDW, including Yak and Yeti and T-Rex.

Other things you can try:
- If the Disney Springs Rainforest is unavailable, would you consider the Animal Kingdom location? This one isn't nearly as busy, although I suspect that will change as AK expands their hours and opens Pandora.
- You might want to join Landry's select. There's a charge involved, but it gets credited right away when you eat there. I'm not sure if it helps with reservations, but it might.

DH and I really liked both RFC (at AK), although we at breakfast there and not lunch/dinner, and TRex, where we ate dinner. It's main draw is the atmosphere but the food is pretty good! We'll definitely eat at both again on our next trip.

We have a Rainforest Cafe near where we live. It IS that bad, food wise. None of us liked what we had, including my kids. And we are not picky eaters at all. I know we had pasta and pizza that we didn't like. If I ever went back I would probably just try a burger and hope you can't screw that up.

I really like RC. They have a good variety of food and it's always been good. The atmosphere is really cool, and yes it's loud but so is almost every other place in Disney except Coral Reef.

LOL burgers are one of the easiest things to mess up ;) Especially if what you like is medium and they only cook to well done or burnt. Salad with dressing on the side is quite literally the safest bet! I take my son to the local one for his birthday and have learned to lower my expectations...

We went to Trex and RC (at Disney Springs) last time were were at WDW. RC was fine, but Trex was noticeably better.

Use the Touring Plans reservation finder to find a Tusker House ressie if that is what you want. It's pretty brilliant and works well.

It is what it is. Which is fine. Its food youd get at any other chain, just nothing special. Stick with something normal and you'll be fine. When I went, I should've stuck with the burger like everyone else was having and looked good when it came. I had to go with the unusual salad which was not what I read it to be, which was disappointing but still ok.

It is ok. Tusker House and Yak & Yeti are both much better. With that being said, we ate there on our last trip because my DD (6) wanted to eat there. Everyone was happy with their food. It was what we expected.

Here is the Yak & Yeti phone number: Tel 407-824-9384 (YETI). And here is the website: http://www.yakandyetirestaurant.com/village.asp

Rainforest Cafe is fine. It's not great, but it's fun and the staff has always been very nice. I do think Yak & Yeti and Tusker House are better, however.

As PP's have said, I also highly recommend getting the Landry's Select Card. We've used it three times in WDW now (once each at TRex, RFC in AK and Yak & Yeti). You will get priority seating over even people with ADR's.

If you stick with the bottom end of the menu you will be fine... In other words no steak, sea food etc... burgers sandwichs etc. are all ok and sometimes surprisingly good... I would never stoop as low as comparing it to Applebees, I would gladly eat a Bigmac over that.. or to the point I would drive to any fast food chain in a 10 mile radius and even consider gas station food, although years ago they were decent.
