Is Raglan Road any good??

We ate there last August - had an early seating on our first day. Food was very very good, especially the scallop forest and the Kiss. DNiece was loving the shepherds pie - said it was the best she'd ever had. Service was a little slow even considering the place was 90% empty - we put it down to the food being prepared freshly vs large batches.

Going back again next time!

DH and I visited twice late at night in Aug. 07 and the entertainment alone was worth it! The musicians were awesome!

Only place my DH wants to eat "on site" next trip.

We love it - but we are two adults who go for a late dinner and drinks. Everything is delicious and the band is so great you don't want to leave and lose your table =)

We ate there in January and did not enjoy it. :sad2: They put us seated between 2 tables... about a foot away from us... if that. A little too close for comfort... there was no such thing as a private conversation. The food wasn't as good as we expected. The atmosphere was nice, but that was about it. I believe they have a band that plays on some nights... That would have been nice to see.

You know, I haven't been to Ragland Road, but I can sympathize with you on the tables being too close from my experience at some of the other restaurants in Disney. On one of our recent trips, it was just my DH and I, and there were so many places were I felt like we were crammed in at these tiny little tables for two that were right on top of everyone next to us. If I didn't like Disney and the food so much, I wouldn't do it again. Luckily, my parents are going with us this time so I am hoping that for four people the tables will be a little more roomy.

It always makes me chuckle  when people complain about service being slow. We go to Raglan Road at least 2 times/trip. We go in the evening to hear the band, ask to sit in the Grand room, and ask our waiter to slow down the service (order drinks, order appetizers, order entrees after we receive out appys, etc.) We spend hours there because we enjoy the entertainment.

We have never had a bad experience. If you are in a rush, go to Cookes of Dublin and order counter service there. Many people complain about 'Ohanas and being rushed out of there, I think it's refreshing to go to a restaurant and have a dining experience. I also think in the evenings they feel people want to hear the band, so they don't rush you. Just my 2 cents! :surfweb:

You're on vacation, relax and taste what you're eating!

We've eaten there twice. The first time I was very disappointed in the fish and chips, absolutely tasteless! DH loved the ham which is no longer on the menu. In Dec, we both enjoyed our meal as did my parents.

I saw that a PP loved their fish and chips so maybe I'll try them again sometime. I always get fish and chips and the R&C in Epcot!

Great point. When people say slow service, take it relative to your expectations. Personally, when we dine out, We prefer not being seated immediately so we can get a drink at the bar and relax. We don't even order our entrees until our appetizer is almost finished because we don't want to be rushed through a meal. On the other hand I have a friend who gets impatient if he's not seated within 10 minutes and hasn't ordered within 5 minutes of sitting down. That's not our idea of dining out.

Needless to say, Raglan is on our must-do list now. We've been there on our last three trips and are going again in July the first night we arrive. Service is perhaps a little slow, but we don't really notice it since the Guiness is good, the food is tasty and filling, and the entertainment is great.

great reviews... this is one of the restuarants in my poll for my Dec ADR's and I am seriously considering it:thumbsup2

My expectation on service is that soft drinks/water are kept filled and when I am finished with something it is cleared from the table and I would like to know how they do with that. My only complaint about many WDW restaurants (esp. Buffets) is that they don't keep drinks filled well at some (I won't do the buffets much anymore as resultM with few exceptions that I know are good) and they don't keep the tables clear.

I think they did a good job on drinks and clearing things. And I'm speaking as someone who drinks a lot of beverage in general so I'm very sensitive to that aspect of service.
