..painful? This was going to be one of my 'must sees' at the AK but I hear alot of horror stories.

Is it really painful? :confused3

The ride can be jerky. Once the ride caught me in the wrong position and put a kink in my back for a few minutes. If someone has a chronic back problem, I'd recommend not riding it.

I agree if someone has back or neck problems then they shouldnt ride it.. It is a little bumpy.. but alot of fun! I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants when I rode it with my kiddos in March..

Actually I think its pretty tame.

We have one like it here at the local amusement park except its inside like Space Mountain and the one here is alot worse.

The thing about Primevil Whirl is that it's pretty jerky.
There is a similiar ride at Waldamere park in PA and I LOVE that ride, it's very smooth and really fun, but the one at AK isn't all that smooth and it does jerk you around a bit...it isn't all THAT bad, but I sure
don't consider it a "MUST do" though. I can take it or leave it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a known back or neck problem...again, it isn't THAT bad, but it's not worth risking a day a back or neck pain.

I have had several times where I got off this hurting from the jerkiness and a few times where it didn't seem so bad. I think it depends on the weight/balance and how much you spin because there are a few places where the spinning is stopped quickly and that can jerk you around. But, it is a fun ride - my DD7 LOVES it!

I love it it can be a little bumpy and jerky but as long as you don't restrain yourself your fine

Its a "wild mouse", type ride so its a little jerky but not too bad. I enjoyed it :sunny:

We love it LIke another poster said it like the Wild Mouse rides. Very sharp turns just be prepared and its no big deal.

We thought it was great! My DH didn't like the spinning but other than that it's a pretty tame coaster. We plan on going on this one in a few days. :cool1:

...a little. I know there's a clan of us who have remarked about how painful PW is, but the truth is I don't find that it hurts so much as it's just so darn jerky that I don't find anything about it fun. I would honestly say, however, that anyone with even slight back or neck problems should not ride! I think it's the combination of jerking and spinning that does me in, even though I have been a big old-fashioned wooden (jerky) roller coaster for years--the bigger & the faster, the better! :woohoo:

Yet, there are those who really like it. I guess it's just one of those things you have to try for yourself -- if you're healthy and adventurous!

OP, you said it was one of your "must sees" so I probably wouldn't let "horror stories" deter me from trying it once IF you are healthy and aware that you MIGHT lose a little park time recovering from slight headache, nausea or stiff neck. (Not worth it to me; I'd rather ride EE again & again & again...) Have fun!

:tink:

I am prone to motion sickness & have a bit of a bad back, but can ride this all day long! It is a bit bumpy, but so much fun! I wouldn't miss it! My dh & dd11 love it also!

Primevil Whirl is basically a wild mouse type rollercoaster that spins.

I have some problems with my back (it's very curved), and I have ridden this ride lots of times and never came out with any back pains. You just have to relax your muscles and move with the turns. It's a very fun ride, and the line moves fairly quickly (almost like the line for Buzz, because people are getting on so fast). Even though I am not very fond of that whole carnivalish part of Animal Kingdom, I do like this ride, and ride it every time I go. :thumbsup2

I would rather ride SM than PW!!! PW is a tough one for me..I hate the spinning as you drop feeling. But, I have found that if I close my eyes on it, I don't get as jarred as I do with my eyes open. I must tense up, and that makes it worse for me. But, it is a rougher ride...that spinning and dropping can really jerk you around. It's kind of like a Tilt-A-Whirl with big drops!!!

I have chronic lower back problems and I am pretty selective about the rides I go on. I didn't have any problems with this one, and we rode it twice. It made DH a little queasy so he sat it out the second time.

I have heard that the more weight you have in the car the faster it spins. The second time we rode it was just DS and me, so maybe that makes a difference. :confused3

DS and I rode it 3 times in a row 2 years ago!! DH could only stand to ride it once because of the spinning!!!
