Hey y'all!!
My husband and I are planning on visiting Disney next May for our 9 year Anniversary. I have pretty much settled on POR but I have been reading some not-so-good reviews. Is it really that bad? I mainly selected POR because I love the boat option to DTD and the grounds are gorgeous and romantic looking. Our second choice is CSR and it scares me because it's soooooo big.

Help!!!! I dont want to be disapointed.

You won't be dissappointed with POR, we have stayed there and POFQ many times.
The grounds are nice The restaurant has good food.
We've never had a problem with the exception of POP Warner week in December.

The food was one of the bad things I heard about. I'm guessing we will spend most of our time at the Food Court since it's the fastest, but I would like to eat at the sit don't restaurant (name???) at least once. Did you try the pasta station while you were there? I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE pasta and I am hoping it is good.

Can you tell me anything about the bus situation? I heard it was terrible. THANK YOU!!!

I don't have firsthand experience, but a friend stayed at POR on her honeymoon last year. She and DH loved it and thought it was extremely romantic. They had no complaints about the food.

Boatwright's Dining Hall.
As far as the buses? No real problems, certain times they ar loaded from picking up at POFQ first but other than that nothing worth complaining about.
If you're looking at POR also Consider POFQ it's smaller, a little quieter, the bus stops there first, the boat goes to DTD and it is a short walk to POR to eat at Boatwrights.

I thought about POFC but for some reason it doesnt appeal to me as much as POR. I'm probably being picky but I haven't seen alot of pictures that make me want to stay there. I don't really care for the alligator statues or the mardi gras theme. It looks kiddish to me...IMO the pastel colors make it all look tacky. I don't mean to offend any of you who like this resort.

I also didn't think I would want to walk over to another resort just to eat. I was hoping that my decision owuld be easier, but it's not! AHH!!!!:upsidedow

If you're not into the theme of POFQ then by all means Riverside is a great choice.
As I said we've been there many times.
Just walking around the grounds at POR is a great experience.
The only word of advice I would give is use the South Depot bus stop, it's the first pick up after POFQ.
The southern style of the resort as a whole is great too.

I think that's what I like about it so much.....I'm from NC and a Southern girl for sure!!!

Thank you for your advice....I really appreciate it!

POR is my favorite resort, I've never been disappointed.

Well POR was formerly named Dixie Landings.
The name was changed due to political correctness, and it still ticks me off.

Love POR. Probably the only mod we will stay at. Gorgeous grounds, love the boat and the buses aren't bad at all. You will just love your stay.

Not really.
We were down right after the name change and I ask why?
The cast member's answer was political correctness.
That's about it.
Sorry:sad2:

No problem...I was just curious. I remember when it was Dixie Landings, but I never heard why they changed it. :thumbsup2

We loved our stay at POR! The bus wait times weren't different than any other Disney resort I've stayed at. We loved taking the boat to DtD and used it a lot more than I thought we would.

We stayed there several times and never have been disapointed! We rarely ate at the foodcourt, but the "make your own salad" was to die for and the Magic Cookie Bars are out of this world! :worship: The food at Boatwright's was wonderful! We had the prime rib (I think) and the filet and they were downright disneylicious!:goodvibes

We had no problems at all with the busses when we were there; the waits were short and we nearly always sat.. I'd say we had a 99% sitting down rate from the hotel to the parks :)

We didn't mind the food at all; but we also keep in mind the sort of food we are eating :) Pasta bar? I don't know. I am Italian so don't ask me that :D

I'm a little prejudiced because I worked at "Dixie Landings" and I think it is a beautiful resort. I don't think you would be disappointed.

My family stayed at POR for our very 1st Disney trip last April. My husband is not a huge crowd person and really liked the feel of privacy there because of the trees and garden-type things between the buildings. We used the West Depot and never had to wait more than a few minutes for the busses. He actually said he wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, so that's where we're staying again this coming April! We're expecting our 4th baby in March, so once he's 3 we won't be able to stay there anymore:guilty: .
