Is Poly worth it?

We are booked at Poly for 6 nights in Sept. Is it worth spending the extra $100 per night to stay at Poly vs. WL? I can't decide what to do.

It is for me... I usually have an Annual pass and get a nice discount though. Right now is a 75$ a night discount

I definately think it's worth it. WL is very nice but the Poly has a little of everything. You can watch the fireworks from the pool/beach area, see the electric water parade, swim in the great volcano pool, learn to hula and most importantly (for us) be on the monorail.

Sounds like it is definitely worth it. I'm sure I'll love it when we get there.

Every penny! Even at rackrate which is what I'm paying for next week!

We have stayed at both and the answer for us is easy THE POLYNESIAN :easboy: not that there is anything wrong with WL - the Poly is just the perfect resort for us and worth every penny

The Polynesian resort is my family's all-time favorite resort! :thumbsup2

However, I think that the lower-cost deluxe resorts (Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge) are wonderful too! To me, the Polynesian resort has sentimental value, has some of the largest (non-suite) rooms on Disney property, and has our favorite restaurants, in addition to the best location on Disney property.

When we travel with our DSs who are now 18 and 16, it's like traveling with adults, not kids, so we need that extra space, and the extra bed, that the Polynesian gives us. So that fact alone gives me more value for the cost. (My DSs are big guys and the bunkbeds at the WL and AKL don't have much headroom, so those resorts don't have the best bedding configuration for us anymore).

My point in saying all this is that you should think about whether or not *you* will think it's worth the price difference or not. If the extra $100 a night will mean that you really have to tighten your budget, you might feel better at the WL, which really is a wonderful resort in it's own right. However, if the extra $100 a night really won't effect your budget at all, then I'd definitely say to go for it and stay at the Polynesian. :sunny:

Have a wonderful trip, whichever resort you stay at!!! :goodvibes

I think so. We just switched from the WL to POLY for our Dec trip. Even though the WL is gorgeous (especially during the holidays) we decided the convenience of being on the monorail is work the extra $$$.

Whether or not it is worth only you can answer. Do you perfer the island feel over the rustic feel? Is the monorail a must or can you take it or leave it? Will the price differance put a stran on your budget and you are going to spend the whole trip trying to "justify" the extra expense. Depending on the answers to these questions will depend on whether or not it is "worth" it to you.

We stayed at the poly one time after staying at moderates, wl and akl, and swan. We payed 234.00 a night and I did not feel it was worth it. I found out even if I can afford it that is more than I am willing to pay. Kept thinking I'd just as soon be at a moderate. We did love AKL though, but even then it would have to be a good rate.
But then we all have our limits on what is too expensive I guess. I just felt like the atmosphere wasn't that special....Sad in a way as I had always wanted to stay there.
