Just wondering your thoughts...

Garden view vs. MK view.

Is it worth it? What exactly do you see? The castle?

Our vacation is primarily at BC (5 nights) but we added one night at poly...well I did as a surprise. He won't know until we get there. So I thought since it's a gift I would upgrade for the night to MK view.

It would be $90 more. I'm on the fence...(if it was for the entire trip I wouldn't upgrade but since it's for a night I'm thinking I might; and the fact that it's a surprise/gift).

During my stays I've never had lagoon view but you will have the beach right at your patio and you'll see the castle. Fireworks will be beautiful from your room as well. There are alot of trees on the beach so just hope one of them isn't in your path to obstruct your view.

For me it depends on how much time you'll be spending in the room. If just for the one night and your basically in the parks all day then it's not worth it to me, I'd rather spend the $90 on a real nice dinner. On the other hand if you plan to hang out on your patio all day and enjoy the sights then it might be worth it.

Good luck in deciding.

I'm from Central NJ and I see you are too! Cold today isn't it?????

I would say it is certainly worth it, especially if you are only there 1 night. You won't have to worry about a palm tree in your way as the above poster mentioned. "Magic Kingdom View" gaurantees an unobstructed view of the castle. This is the reason they created the new classification, to differentiate it from normal Lagoon View which may (and probabley does) have slightly obstructed castle views. The Poly offers one of the most beautiful room views of all the Disney resorts, in my opinion. It's hard to top waking up in the morning and having a view of the castle.

I think when you talked about how nice the fireworks will look, that sold me on it! :goodvibes We both love the fireworks and I think that first day we will just take it easy and enjoy the resort so I just called and booked the MK view.

Thank you for the help!!

And yes, it's FREEZING here! While waiting for the train this morning, I think even my eyeballs froze when the wind blew. Brrrrrr!

Awesome, thanks. I'm trying to see if I can snag some MK pictures that guests have taken and posted online. Oh man, I can't wait!

Which longhouse would you recommend?

I never knew about this new classification of MK view. I just know if I'm paying the extra I wouldn't want a tree in my view. This is how I feel about my stays at the Swan. Nothing beats opening the blinds and going on the balcony to see Spaceship Earth and to watch Illuminations from the balcony is absolutely beautiful!!!

My DH goes into the city at least twice a week and he just called and said all of them are delayed. I can't believe I have to go back out in this to pick him up and the lot will be mobbed!! I pick him up at Kilmer

Phew, good thing I'm working late again tonight (:rolleyes1 - working, something I should get back to asap! ;) ) so hopefully I miss the delays!

Is Kilmer metropark or the edison station? I take Jersey coast to south amboy.

Its Edison Station but I call it Kilmer. My DH is working late also. He was supposed to be on the 5:30 but at 5:50 it hadn't showed up yet:mad:

I got a MK view at the 40% discount and I must say that I am beyond excited.:goodvibes I have always stayed GV because I just couldn't justify the price but with the discount it will be affordable and such a treat!!!:)

I would definitely go the extra $$ and take the view, especially since it's only for one night. It would make the surprise waaaaaaaay better!

Hello to all my fellow Central New Jersey frigid ones!

I don't think the MK view is worth the price. I think its about $110 per night difference. I've had MK views three times (2 xs at GF and 1 x at Poly). The Poly one was a free upgrade, the GF ones were not. While it is really nice to lay in bed and watch the castle change colors I found that we were usually at the Poly pool during the fireworks anyway and you can see them just as nicely from there or the beach. At GF after the first few nights my kids wanted to watch the fireworks from Gasparillas anyway so they could eat ice cream and sit with the other kids - GO Figure!

Depending on what season, there can be a substanstial hike in price. In my personal research, try to book the Tukelau longhouse, request a garden view closet to the beach end of the building, you will be surprised! I always book garden view in the deluxes, I have been very fortunate to have been upgades twice to lagoon views at Poly and GF. Just my opinion

I would keep the MK view. If the POLY is the last resort on your vacation, what a way to end it with that view!
