Is Pirates different from the California and Florida versions?

I was reading the list of things you shouldn't ride while pregnant and I noticed that they have Pirates of the Caribbean on there, but this ride is not off limits for pregnant women in California or Florida- is it more intense, is the drop really big or is there some other big difference? My son likes the versions in WDW and DL, I just don't want my husband to be in for a surprise if it is really intense and he takes my toddler on it by himself.

It's much better than the US version. Much longer and there are a few drops (but nothing extreme - there's no lap bars or anything.

Our first grown up trip to WDW I thought something had happened and we were getting off early POTC seemed that short compared!

Darn, that sounds fun, I wish I could ride it! Sounds like my son will like it though. I wonder if it is because of the the additional drops that they say not to ride it? Oh well, DH and DS will have fun :goodvibes

I'm not a doctor but I'd ride the DLRP one pregnant. It's no more risky than a car/plane journey I'd say. But don't go off my advice. Maybe get your DH to ride first.

The only part I'd be concerned about would be if we banged into another boat at the end of the ride as you wait to get off as sometimes there's a back log.

That is a major factor - its bumpy, but nothing to bump your bump on....but the drops are far more significant and if they advise not to ride when pregnant, then surely this should be adhered to? Like the no standing rule when that little boy fell off the back and was squashed when he fell out under the over boat when his parent clearly knew not to let home stand?

To be honest, while I know people do indeed bend the rules to get on, I think maybe common sense says to listen to the guidelines, just as you would if your child was too small and you sneaked them on, then there was as accident. It would be down to the individual to decide if a risk is worth taking though, personally I don't think it is anywhere in the league of dangerous, maybe they are just covering their backs.
