that goes by its postal abbreviation? (PA) Just wondering.

I can't think of any other states that do it other than PA. I think the reason is so many people can not figure out how to spell Pennsylvania!!!!

Yes, every state has a different 2-character postal abbreviation. There are no duplicates.

That's not what I mean. :) I mean, in Pennsylvania, and neighboring states, it is routinely called P-A.

Like "Hey, I'm going to P-A for the weekend."

Does anyone say, "Hey, I'm going to T-X for the weekend?"

I am going to be in IL for a while...

We're in NJ and don't say I'm going to PA. As a matter of fact I don't think I've ever heard someone say I'm going to PA. It's usually I'm going to Philly or Hershey or Amish country.

I think so but I dont know for sure. BC is commonly used for British Columbia though.

I used to live in PA but it stands for Prince Albert in that case LOL

DC!

And not in speach but in writing: SC and NC. Those are the three I've lived in :)

no 2 states have the same postal abbreviation....

so the long and short of that is yes:)

We say "Going to PA for the weekend" around here.

I get the question for once, yay for me!:)

Well, I've referred to North Carolina as N-C. I'm not sure how routine it is for other people though.

A lot of people here say "'I'm fron V-A...." and a LOT of people call me V-A-... I  it!

As long as you aren't going to be Ill ;) (I know that used to be the old way to abbreviate it "Ill").

I can't think of any really that says that. I don't recall ever hearing "I'm going to F-L" or "I live in I-N" unless writing (and I'd have to look up Iowa because I always forget, I think it's IA but am never 100% sure). I can't think of any state it's said for here even PA. :lmao:

We've used P-A for a long time, although I remember my grandmother saying Pennsy when I was little.

No, they say I'm going to God's Country for a spell.

I know what you mean Shirley. I've often heard the term "Philadelphia PA".

Not me. And my dad was born there. My grandparents lived there their entire lives. :thumbsup2 I was born and grew up in NJ and never called it P-A.

:O I hear a lot of people say PA instead of Pennsylvania. Maybe the word's too long.
