Is PE usually full?

Has anybody ever upgraded to PE Virgin at gatwick?
Is PE usually full, This is what I really want to know?

We were upgraded once. As for being full it depends on the day and flight you travel on etc. We have been sometimes and its been half full, other times full and they were bumping passengers onto the later flight.

We've flown PE with Virgin once, DD thought it would be a nice surprise for my birthday, we decided to ask to be upgraded at the airport (at twilight check in at LGW) we were told there were no seats left in PE but were told to ask before we boarded, in case there were any no-shows, we got a 1 way upgrade because a party of 3 didn't show up and they charged us a small fortune! for the privelage! I would have thought it would have been cheaper than normal as those poor people who missed the flight would already have paid, so Virgin made double their money! (i think they saw us coming he he!) That said PE was brill and we couldn't fault the service there was just soooooo much more room. I have heard of people being very lucky and getting up graded FREE! But i think this is very rare.

Reason i'm asking is, we travelled with virgin in jan and we had major problems with there customer service staff and also at the airport. So they have offered us a free upgrade on our next flight. but it's subject to the seats being available at the airport. Im looking for advice on wheather it would be full or not. It would be next sept. Im thinking of writing back to them and complaning as we're not guarenteed anything.
